The 2018 S.T.A.R. shoot, Sherwood Traditional Archery Rendezvous will be held at Sherwood Archers in Roanoke, Va. on June 2 & 3. We hope to make this, our 13th S.T.A.R., our biggest and best shoot so far, as well as the most fun for our participants.
As we have done the last several years, our 3-D range will be a fun shoot format. We strive to set our targets in some of the most interesting terrain as well as realistic target presentation possible. Score cards will be available if you want to have some friendly competition with your fellow shooters.
We will have "A" range open, our field course, and we will have 2-D animal faces up for you to enjoy and tune your skills on. This turned out to be a real fun course for everyone last year.
The tough man shoot will still be a money shoot and will be placed up the hollow like it was last year and the fun range will be set up across the road again this year.
There will be a lot going on this year. Our raffle bow for this year will be a new TradTech Trident 3 piece take down ILF recurve bow. We will have other door prizes available as well. The kitchen will be open both days and there is primitive camping available. As we have done the last couple of years, there will be a "yard sale" area where archery/bow hunting items can be bought, sold and traded.
I hope you put it on your calendars to come out and spend the weekend, or at least a day with us. There should be enough to keep you busy putting arrows in the air and "shooting till your fingers blister!"
Visit us at our website for more information and to view some photos from past S.T.A.R. shoots. http://www.sherwoodarchersroanokeva.com/
See you in June,
Randy

I went last year for the first time and it turned out to be my favorite shoot ever. Awesome targets and the distance they were set at was perfect for traditional shooting. I went with my 9 year old son and he had a blast as well, his first shot bounced off the black cougar so he shot again and got a perfect hit,and it stuck in! We will be back this year for sure. You guys who set up this shoot do a great job. See you soon! Dave

I definately concur , best laid out course I have ever shot , so darn realistic, and a nice walk through the mountains
sombody spends alot of time and work thinking the layout and setting out of that course
definately not a shoot down the alley kinda thing
feels like a real hunting kinda shot

I want to thank Randy, Jim, John and all the other guys whose names I either forgot or didn't get! It was a tremendous shoot event, and the colossal effort was apparent to anybody who attended - especially if they've ever set up a range themselves! Sherwood Archers do a fine job, and you can tell they do it all year long. Thanks, guys, for a great weekend of archery and camping fun. Already looking forward to next year!
