Early trials but DAP Rapid Fuse from WWorld is doing a great job on these Genesis arrows the students use at school.I've tried most all preps and glues but a simple 91% alcohol wipe and apply seems to hold very well.In honesty,I did mix in a little dab of leftover BSI but really liking the result PLUS the bottle has a great cap and application tip that stays clean. My 2 cents Found in the home improvement aisle.Decent price decent amount.Apply thin coat. Thanks,Sack

I imagine lots of glues will work, hopefully they stand the test of time. I still use Saunders NPV...it's been made since the 1940's or 50's, or Fletchtite. Don't need to change it it isn't broken.

Thanks, Sack!

I think George must not have had his coffee yet, or he’d be willing to at least entertain the idea that the past 60 or 70 years of technological advancement might actually have led to some progress in GLUE.

Speaking as one who’s always on a budget, I’m always happy to hear about a good product at a good price - especially if it saves me having to pay shipping.

And speaking as a Dad, I don’t really like having toxic stuff like that around the house.

Nice to have choices.

Seems like every time I need to repair nocks or fletch, my fletchtite has dried up from sitting too long. So instead of ordering more and waiting a week for delivery, I’ve been using CA glue, which I can get anywhere. And I’ve heard numerous times, to keep CA refrigerated to make it last longer. So my question is, can I refrigerate Fletchtite or Duco to keep it from hardening in the tube?

Drys in 30 seconds, complete cure in 30 minutes. I have recommended Super Glue your choice of brand,in a bottle, with a good needle spout for ages. On this very site numerous times. Apparently it don't work with stone points, reed shafts, and tree limb bows with sinew strings. It just will not replace pine pitch for thos apps. For folks in this century it is fast, convenient, clean, and no mess with all the squeeze out. Since it don't say for fletching or archery on the bottle it is also cheaper and readily available. Soooo if it ain't broke don't fix it. It is a beautiful day. I am going outside now,Y'all have a good one. >>>----> Ken

Is DAP Rapid Fuse a CA glue?

From: Grampus
Date: 27-Apr-18

JB Weld, a 2 part epoxy, good for glue on knocks and inserts, all types of arrows.

The type of glue used on wood is determined by the finish.

I acknowledge technological advances, but I don't always use them. Especially when something already works so well. I don't change what works. Your mileage may vary.

It is all good George. No ill will intended. This discussion has come up so many times. The last couple of "what glue for this that or the other questions" I didn't bother to respond. If I ask a question it is to learn something. The question keeps coming up and advice given. In this case he was sharing. Either way folks don't seem to follow suggestions or advice until something don't work. Some real good stuff comes up here quite often.Have a good day.>>>>-----> ken

I have NEVER had fletchtite go bad. And I have some OLD tubes !

Not promoting one glue over another gentlemen.Just putting an option out there if needed/wanted.I have used all the items mentioned above except Loctite..too expensive for all the repairs these kids demand.Fletch tape,NPV,Fletchtite,Gorilla Glue.Ajax, acetone ,alcohol,BSI have all failed enough to keep me searching..Yes,DAP is a CA and when applied in a THIN coat per instructions set up in seconds and I let them dry overnight. Use what works for you..Heat,humidity,fletching material, shaft material, personal application,etc...it all varys in twhat we choose. keep us updated if you try it.Thanks,Sack

SB, where do you store it? Every tube I’ve had has gone bad unless I use the whole tube fletching up a bunch of arrows.

While you're adding options then, contact cement works very well too and is cheap....and doesn't have the nasty vapors of Cyanoacrylate.

Add contact glue to my list of efforts also. Thanks Sack

Forget the tubes-----BOTTLE---- store upside down so any air pocket will be at the bottom. Return the cap after each use. They also say it helps to store in the fridge. I haven't bothered to try that yet. I have fletched many arrows and haven't ran across a shaft it won't hold a fletch on. Oddly, all archery supplies now carry a CA glue.I got tired of which glue for which finish. >>>>-----> Ken

I used fletch tite on some arrows finished with oil based wipe on poly about ten years ago. Just lately they have started falling off. Not pulling the finish up, just cleanly falling off.

Next set is going to be with SG.

Yep, fletch tite is good for leaving a trail of feathers unless you match it with the shaft material and finish it happens to like. I just don't have time for it. >>>----> Ken

Just found 24 grams of the DAP at Home Depot for $5.50 :D

I use the thick cyanoacrylate it goes on like fletch-tite and dries in seconds. I always preferred fletch-tite and still use it for the points and broadheads. Never had a feather come off from the glue giving up, of course I only shoot wood arrows, that might be the difference.

I like superglue, dont need to worry about what material or finish you put it on, dirt cheap, and readily available at any dollar store.

Duco for me but was thinking when I can get some sanders. George where we getting sanders at?

From: DanaC

No problem with Fletchtite. Tried Gorilla super glue, it worked but it's slow and fussy to play with. After six arrows I bought a new tube of Fletchtite.

One thing about FT is, they tell you to let it cure for 24 hours. I didn't always, but I do now. If you're one of those I-need-new-arrows-to-shoot-today! people, might not be your best bet ;-)
