Well this started with these turtle shells I have been finding on these bridge jobs I'm working on here in OK. I saw someone else made a turtle shell quiver somewhere here or on the PA site. These are to big for my turkey calls I make. So here we go. John

Since this is an experiment I'll use the roughest one. I broke the shell apart to pinch the top closed as tight as I can. Then the bottom will cantilever open a little more. John

Had some pallet wood that some stone came in on. Mahogany is the dark one and not sure what the quilted one is. I cut & sanded the wood approximately .093 thick. Soaked in warm water and wrapped in a towel till flexible.

Matches up to the pattern alright but, got a little gap on the 2.50 radius at the bottom. Don't think it will effect anything because it's not under stress like a bow limb. I can always fill with epoxy...or not. Like I said just an experimental piece. Next time either put a cushion between the form and laminations or just strap down with bicycle inner tubes. John

I didn't like how thick it came out. So I decided to skive the top and bottom. Next time maybe two middle pieces and thin buckskin on the top and bottom. Or thin the armature to the thickness of one slice of vegetable leather. Like I said this is only a prototype, learn as you go kinda project. John

Stuffed a wafer in to fill the gap.
Hind sight is always 20/20. The smart thing to do back in the beginning would be to put the yoga block in before I glued the shell back together for a nice tight fit. Back then I didn't know what I would use for a block. Though now I can always take out and replace when worn out.
