Doc says no more shooting with fingers, So I decide to use a mechanical release, Dropped my nocking point to level things out like a C-bow everything looks good. Go shoot some arrows, notice right off the bat that my arrows are twitchy going up and down at even close yardage,It shows even worse at longer yardage.

I am shooting off an elevated rest, and now wondering if I need a different rest that has some vertical give to it, and if so what type? bow is not cut past center and the rests I have looked at appear to be for bows cut past center. any thoughts?

yeah I would raise my nock pt a little at a time till its good.

Put your nock back where it was and try it.

Release causes vertical paradox rather than horizontal like fingers. They often require a rest with more vertical give. You might get acceptable flight with fine nock point tuning. Good luck. >>>----< Ken

Get a bare shaft out and begin the tuning process all over.

Most likely got your nock point too low. Raise it incrementally (1/16") until it straightens out.

Shoot a bare shaft and a fletched. If the bare shaft impacts above the fletched raise. If it's lower than fletched lower. Right or left handed has nothing to do with it. If you're standing on your head reverse.

An arrows porpoise is, and always has been, to be shot out of a bow.

To use one for any other porpoise, just doesn't seem right.

Paper tune it w release. It’s gonna prob be a nock issue.

Shouldn't have lowered the nock to begin with. Just start by raising the nock some as you tune.

Well gents thank you kindly for the replies, I did not get to go today, But have all day tomorrow to experiment with the nock until I get it right, I must have read wrong about C-bows, I always thought level was a good thing. But I do not know much about them.I figured the paradox would not be the same as fingers guess I was wrong ( nothing new for me )

I enjoyed the crack of an arrows porpoise ...Good one

On one of my C bows I had a negative nock point and I shot fingers back then. I used a dropping type rest. I had to experiment with the springs for it, I was shooting 2419 arrows at the time.

I had a finger injury on my string lower finger years ago. So in order to keep shooting I used a Scott Little Goose release. All I did was add a D Loop to my string anchored above and below my arrow. Bottom of nock was about 1/4” above 90. I was shooting off the shelf of a Pronghorn Longbow. It worked great and allowed me to hunt and harvest game.

Shawn...none of that matters if you follow what Bowmania posted.

There are no generic " the nock point should be at least 3/8ths" measurements. Only staring points.

Shooting a recurve witha release ain't new.

Well folks I went, I adjusted nock back up slowly, I scored! Back in business, Sometimes its easy to overlook the obvious when you think you are right.

Thanks for the help.
