I share many of my travels and adventures with you here on Leatherwall. People I meet, shows I do, etc and often post about many of the archery greats I was lucky enough to be around.

This past weekend my wife and I were in California and I had a unique opportunity. We met actor Clint Eastwood and got to visit for a few minutes. When he looked at my card, he said, “What’s this Aspirinbuster mean?” I explained to him that is what I did for a living. He goes,”an aspirin? Like a tiny Bayer Aspirin..??”

It was cool. I understand his son is into archery and it was cool to meet such a kind, humble movie star. As a kid growing up I loved his movies. Sometimes when I meet celebrities I am disappointed but Clint didn’t disappoint. He was great.

I’m glad our paths crossed. He was kind and I wish him the best. He’s 88 and still in great shape. He’s mentally sharp and looks good for his age. I knew Fred Bear would have loved seeing someone talk Archery with someone like Clint.

Just wanted to share this story with you. Y’all have a great week and hope to see you all at a show sometime.

Frank

To me, very enviable situation. By far my favorite actor. I bet he is a great guy to hang out with. I wish I could say "I rode with him, I got no complaints". You are lucky, fortunate, blessed, etc. all the above, to have met him. TK

I'm glad to hear you hit it off with him. A guy always wonders if his "favorites" are genuine.

He’s one of those people that when you see his name as either actor, or director, or producer, the movie is probably going to be worth watching. Also don’t think he is the typical Hollywood weirdo.

Mpdh, I could almost guarantee you he's not. "You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?"

When i was Running Horses, with the BLM,We had an adoption,in Carmel..We stopped in to his Bar/Grill...He was there,,and comped our meals..He told us,,"Real cowboys money,,is no good in his establishment"....He was Mayor of the town back then..

Because of the nature of what I do I’ve met my share of reality stars, singers, actors, etc. Sometimes I am disappointed and sometimes a celebrity is better that I imagine they will be. That list is short but includes Coach Mack Brown, George Strait, Loretta Lynn, and a few others.

Anyway, Clint is better. He’s the real deal. I liked him a lot.

What I meant Clint was better than I expected, not better than others

Frank, send him a video of your shooting, and say, "Aim for the heart, don't forget the heart". He'll get a laugh out of that... Aspirin for the heart.

The heart, Ramon. Don't forget the heart. Aim for the heart...

As good of an actor as Clint is I think he's an even better film producer! Looks great for 88, too.

From: Zildjian51

Great story Frank. Clint is one of my all time favorite actors. It seems as though every movies he had a good line. One of his latest movies I liked was "Trouble with the Curve." If you like baseball, you should like this movie.

Clint is one of the few on Hollywood I would like to meet.

My favorite movie of Clint's would be Outlaw Josey Wales.

I saw it at the theater in 1976. Several times after too.

As far as his movies, I like most of them. I remember I didn’t like Unforgiven the first 3/4 of the movie. But when he walks in the Saloon near the end of the movie, that’s five or ten minutes of pure Clint. It made the movie. It became one of my favorites.

I came up with a funny caption for this photo.. “So I said to the baby aspirin, do you feel lucky punk? Well do you?!?”

Hahaha

In one of the old Archery magazines there is a picture of Clint and Lee Marvin, shooting recurves..This picture was taken when they were filming Paint Your Wagon, in Oregon...He knows how to shoot a bow to..

I guess his son really likes bow hunting too.

Very cool. Can't think of a movie he was in that wasn't great. I remember when the our kids where small. I wanted to watch Two Mules For Sister Sarah. At first they were all complaining. About five minutes in they were all glued to it. They really just don't make em like that anymore. Bjrogg
