I'm not talking about speed or some other performance characteristic of the bow. What I am after is which bow almost never resides in the classifieds longer than a few minutes when posted. I've had a Rocky Mountain Recurve and a Dale Dye bow sell almost immediately. Longbow or recurve and priced in the market. And just for fun, which bow do you almost have to give away to get rid of it?

Bear takedown maybe?

From: Brad Lehmann
Date: 24-Apr-18

I know that my examples are both no longer being built. Let me expand to say in your opinion, which current production bow will sell like hotcakes now or in the future?

For some reason, and I can't understand it, I have to agree that the Bear take down is a likely candidate.

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Bows showing up in the classified is directly related to how many was/is out there to be sold and resold. I would hesitate to put much onus on the fact that they are great because they never show up there.

From: Dry Bones
Date: 24-Apr-18

I will agree that I can't understand it, and that the Bear Takedown seems to list and go about that fast if it is in good shape and not priced to strong.

I don't know if it is a make situation, but definitely poundage seems to play a role in this as well. Anything over say 55# draw sets a lot longer in our classifieds, and the heavier the longer it takes.

A couple of bows that seem VERY rare to even come up is an Omega or a Freeman.

I agree the key being price and draw weight. I am happy Browning bows are underrated and can be had for a very fair price. I don't often see Martin Mamba for sale, they go quick and bring a good price.

Blacktail all tricked up mega bucks with wood carvings to the max. Not a production bow but no idea what that might be don't think there is any plain Janie's that sell like hot cakes.

PIKA by Dan Toelke

And him and his son sure does put out a lot of bows, and fast turnaround time.

JD Berry's and Sunset Hills.

For bows that one cannot give away, crusty old compounds. In the past few years three have been stranded by my house. I could not give them away and they all landed in the garbage truck. big sign 'Freebow' right by the curb, no takers, garbage day was Tuesday, the garbage guy did not even want them. Although he did check everyone of them out before pithing them in with the rest of the garbage.

From: PECO
Date: 24-Apr-18

With the popularity of warf and frankenbows, I would think you could get rid of those old compounds here. Strip them to the riser and someone will want it and cover shipping.

From: Brad Lehmann
Date: 24-Apr-18

I suppose that I will have to try a Centaur some day soon. I also have a curiosity about the Toelke bows. I tried a Predator and didn't really care for it. Most of my dislike was perhaps the wonderwood, or diamondwood. I just don't care for the stuff with the big grain pattern in it. Reminds me of cheap pine furniture.

From: goldentrout_one

Different bowyers have different production capacities - I wonder which maker(s) are sending out the most bows right now? E.g. how many recurves did Bear, DH, BW, BL, WW, etc. make in 2017?

I would think the Bear take-down and/or the Bear 59 re-issue would be the hottest bows in terms of numbers sold and demand.... that, and Black Widows of all types. Who knows? Where could you even begin to find that data?

I've been watching diligently on several sites for Cari-bows for the last 10 months. I've bought 4 during that time. Two others I passed on because of weight. One I bought was not listed for sale anywhere. I posted a want to buy and got a response. That is 5 listings in 10 months on numerous sites, including E-bay. I'd say that Abe Penner's "Cari-bows" fit your description. When they show up you had better be ready to buy and make the decision immediately or you will miss out for sure.

From: tonto59

You don't see to many Bear Minute man, Pearson 304's, Browning Backpacker's Paul Bunyan all fiberglass recurve's. You don't see many Hoyt's come up for sale either.

From: David McLendon
Date: 24-Apr-18

A better question might be, what bow do you rarely see for sale. Those are the ones that nobody parts with and probably one worth having if you could find it available. I can think of a couple and the same guy made them both.

From: Renewed Archer
Date: 25-Apr-18

Good question, Brad. But people here are mixing up bows currently being made, which was your question, with bows no longer being made. I don't know much about current bow brands, but it seems to me that Blacktails sell quickly if they are not super heavy or priced just below the new price. I think that almost any top brand bow, in great condition, at a fair price and at a desirable weight, can sell very quickly.

It's hard to know which bows sell right away b/c the chances of seeing it listed are slimmer. You might learn more by doing Google searches for particular bow brands or models. Results will show up even for bows that have sold. If ONLY sold bows show up and you haven't seen them listed, you may be on to something.

Traditional archers vary alot in taste in sticks

Im an ASL guy and ill say if you see a Nate Skeens Sunset Hill come up rarely and if it does its gone quick That said you cant compare Nates work to alot of bowyers as he makes limited amounts,,,he has a full time job and does bows and quivers on the side So simple math of supply and demand

From: Brad Lehmann
Date: 25-Apr-18

I actually turned down a Whippenstick this past Sunday evening. They are great bows.

I am seeing some bows mentioned that I have never heard of. I am also seeing some mentioned that I have owned and sold that took quite a long time to sell once I was ready to try something different.

From: ga bowhunter

i'd say a whippenstick whiplash maybe a 21 st century longbow would love to own another whiplash had a two pcs takedown a few years ago and foolishly sold it

From: Bowmania Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Although not being built, the fastest being sold is a Sirus Greenhorn. I'd say they last less than an hour on TT or AT. If anyone has one PM me.

I recently got my Jennings Black Lightning Warf bow together after months of reading and studying all I could about ILF and warf bows. TT Blackmax 2.0 Shorts limbs, makes a 61" bow. After tuning and some shooting, I myself, wouldn't trade it for any bows made right now. I'm sold on the warf platform. Its set at 44@28. Completely dead in the hand, church-mouse quiet and in this group of arrows from 20 yards is xx75 1916's cut 28.5, 125g points, 2 arrows with 125g Woodsman broadheads, 2 arrows with field points and 1 bareshaft. I am amazed a bow put together as a warf shoots/feels this good, at a fraction of the cost of most bows.
