Hello everyone, I need some assistance. I recently acquired a 48 inch cascade archery bow that was made by checkmate archery. I bought the bow at auction. There was no string on it. Does anyone know what the correct string length would be. I am assuming it would be 44 inches, but I am unsure of such. I was told that Steve Gorr is no longer in business to ask this question. Tks for your help.

I have no information on the bow, but I would suggest a 44" string, and then twist to tune. I have a few bows and don't think there is an exact one measure fits all situation. Some seem to prefer more brace height which would be a shorter string, and others a shorter brace height, so longer string. If you don't make them yourself I can see where you would like a smooth fit the first time, but even then a few twists can change the feel.

If you are going to order a string, not make it yourself, just tell the string maker the length of your bow.

If it's an AMO 48" bow it'll take a 45" string.

Just a thought...the shorter bows I’ve made strings for seemed more picky about the exact brace height.

Yup, only 3" shorter for that bow. It uses the same handle as does the 52" Cascades and I use 3" shorter for them. That said, it really depends upon the string maker and whether Flemish or endless. The former seems to stretch farther and elongate with more twists. The more strands to a string the less stretch but one can take that too far. 50# and under work well with 12 strands B-50. 50-60 with 14 and 60 above with 16.

That bow was not made for fastflight although many have used it-I do not. Only B-50 or Vee-polyester in endless strings. Flemish are easier to adjust brace, endless have to be made more exact.

I might add that Steve Gore, owner of Cascade Bows sent all bows with endless B-50 strings.

You really need to post pics of that thing.
