Today's shot will be the precision shot. Place a small object (like a golf tee or Q- tip) in your target or backstop, place off 12 yards and let her fly. Aim small, to miss small. Hope everyone has a blessed day.
My good old Lab Kayak was born 38 years ago today. I had him until Sept of '96, and I still miss him a lot. This is my first shot for him, took it as I first went outside this morning to go to work. He was up there reminding me. Happy Birthday Kayak! I love you!
It is pretty close to Griffiss, almost right over it actually, so maybe they were doing training runs. They usually do those on Thursdays though, especially touch and go's....

Jeff, you bet. That dog probably is responsible for me being alive. He was always there for me no matter what. I'm probably not supposed to shoot, but I'm gonna do first shot later with my Dad's 45#er Tigercat in both of theirs' honor (because my Dad is definitely responsible for me being alive). :^) Here is Kayak in his element so you can put a face to a name. Will post a pic of my 1st shot later. TK Haha, contrails, government conspiracy huh Cat? :^)
Cool picture Trapper! Thanks for sharing it and your story with us. I shot the Kodiak again today with the stabilizer on it and a 2014. First arrow was the lower of the two. Thanks for the call Big John and I hope that you all have a nice day. Lance
Shot as called with my 51# Yellowstone Hunter with Herritage 150s. And 200gr.points. Today was bad and good. I was going for the eye of the turkey. Bad was shooting low. :^( Good was a dead turkey! :^) Thanks for the call.
I was unable to post picture for first shot but I was close. I have been shooting my new Pike, LOL a joke from an earlier post. I have been shooting my new PIKA, 50@28 and I am loving it. TrapperKayak I know how you feel. l lost my K-9 partner some years back and often think and dream of him. I have an aging beagle now the the family and I love and dread the day when she will pass. If only they had a longer life span.
Well, yesterday I shot at the bamboo stake without a vertical reference, so today I put the green Velcro tape on there to see if I could get the elevation right. I do love these shots that I can take “as called“ given the small amount of yard that I have to work with...
Finally got to do the shot, after yard work. After dark. Actually two. First one, gift from tundrajumper, went into the dark unseen. I tried to shine my headlamp on the bull, with my bifocals on. Just didn't line up and the arrow hit the skid and skipped off oingo-boingo into the trees. Trapper here with it before shot. He couldn't even find it. So I went back to the arrow box and found one of Boxcall's black ones with a target head. Went back out to the 12 yard point, ignored the headlight and just pulled up and shot naturally at the dull pinpoint of light coming from the bottle cap in the last bit of ambient light (I have always had good night vision). Viola, nearly plugged the cap. Thanks Dad for the guiding hand on your Tigercat. Happy birthday Kayak! TK
Here's the shot placement, not bad for nearly in the dark. Instinct took over. Kayak and Dad guided it. ;^) I think I have a guardian angel, or maybe a few. Not gonna worry, life is good. :^)
