Is Binghams TD design a good place to start a first time TD project from? Can you give me some places to get large pieces exotic wood from. thanks

You can do well with the Bingham design and they have blocks of exotics large enough for risers. Spend some time on their site. There's a whole lot of info there.

Probably not a good idea to use expensive wood on the 1st try.

Binghams is great place and have good designs. The Rosewood Shop is another source for riser woods. They like Binghams are great to deal with.

I used Binghams on my first for all my supplies, blueprints, smooth on, laminates, hardware, etc. The riser wood I cut, seasoned, and carved. John

Bingham's is an excellent place to start. I used maple for my risers when first starting out. You can always stain it or leave it natural.

I've built several bows with Bingham's materials . Never had any problems with any of it. Will always use them for bow building materials.

Thanks everybody. I have heard of heat element strips instead of light bulbs. Can anyone give me some info on that like brand and source? thanks Steve

Check and see if Jim Belcher still has the takedown plans that Old Master Crafter's used to sell. They actually offered a few more options then the ones that Bingham offers.

Bingham's is a good place to buy supplies though.
