The great thing about going to the club on off hours is that you can shoot the different targets from angles which are not part of the normal layout of the course. So this evening, I was getting a little bit experimental and took a shot at a 3-D bear. I think I skipped the shaft off of the underside of its chest.
I could see the fletching’s, so I didn’t really think about it and took a couple more shots which were better than the first. Nothing but swamp in the background on this one, with water a foot or so deep at this time of year.
Couldn’t have pulled this off on purpose in about 1 million years!
That branch is about the same diameter as my big toe. And I have small feet!

That's pretty funny. And it kept your big toe dry. :)

I too have hit the target, not where I was intending, to find it saved by an innocent stopper of some sort! I'll take good luck anytime!

Reminds me of a club near me. Half the targets have a swamp as a backstop. Got to the point we have to wear Muck boots to shoot there.

That’s pretty much how our club is; half of the backstops are swamp, and the other half are rocks....
Welcome to New England!!

I have had one like that. I couldn't believe the arrow penetrated and stuck rather than glance off.

Well, GF, I have often heard that phrase "better to be lucky than good" and the same theme is the title of an article in the new TBM. I can't for the life of me figure where that ever started. I would much rather be good than lucky. Luck is a fickle lady not to be depended on. :o)

My luckiest shot ever was when I was deer hunting at brush tepee and was heading back to the pickup. Was on a fairly high point above my rig and the road and saw 5 deer trotting along on the far side of the road. Just to see if I could shoot to the road, I let one go, flight shot. Saw the last deer sort of trip but didn't think anything about it. Went down the slope and started looking for my arrow. Couldn't find it and went across the road to look even though I didn't believe it flew that far. Cut the tracks of the deer and saw where the last one sort of staggered, and then saw some blood. Followed the tracks a ways and found my arrow buried just back of the bucks right ear.
