Been hearing and seeing lots of birds last week while scouting but only hear one today and the neighbor shot it

My son and I hunted Ohio State land yesterday. Heard several on the roost, called one to maybe 40 yards in the first half hour of good light, didn’t hear another gobble until 11:55. Heard 3 shots in the distance all morning. Not the kind of day that I expected...weather was almost perfect. Heading up near Ronova for PA opener.

As far as the turkeys go I am a big goose egg so far. Did call in and shot a coyote yesterday morning in my woods after boredom got to me.

My wife asked me if I heard all the gobbling in the woods out back this morning. I did not, but they are due, been too cold until last Friday for any real turkey activity around here. I left for work before they started going off I guess. I am so looking forward to it this yea. Have ghillie, will travel (to stand).
