Fletched some carbons with feathers with gorilla clear grip the other day. It is a contact adhesive like e6000. I've shot them about 5 sessions. So far so good. Has anyone else tried this product? Can't find much about it in this application.

Used to use E6000 exclusively. Tried the Gorilla clear and now use it. Slightly better grip and durability in winter; we'll see how it does in summer.

Any special prep? I bought a tube for Woodworking but if it works for fletching I am willing to give it a shot.

I cleaned shafts with solvent. Put glue on feather and some on shaft let tacky up before applying feather. Too early to tell, but looks promising. I will try just gluing on without 2 sided application next to see if that works. The directions say to apply to both pieces though.

M60, I use it like a standard fletching adhesive: clean shaft as you normally would, apply thin (!) bead down the feather in the clamp and slide in place. I wait around 15 minutes per feather.

I have found good adhesion to spray paint cap, excellent adhesion to bare carbon and vinyl wraps. Clean up is a snap: roll or fingernail-pick dried adhesive, no scraping or solvents required.

Good to hear it works this way. Major pain to apply to two surfaces. Was trying this product because my last glue ups with a ca product didn't hold up over time. I also like glue i can buy anywhere. My poor planning to have dedicated products on hand make this vital! Ha.

Thanks guys, I use wraps usually but like Rustolem 2X paint as well. My may concern is heat. Summer is here, 100 degree shooting days coming up soon. Heat plays hell on equipment just like the cold.

I'm going to pick some up tomorrow, and give it a go.

I just read up on it, and it sounds like it would be perfect.

We'll see.

Well, I got some, and tried it.

Using Bohning wraps, and Marco vanes, after 1 hour it's still not stuck.

It may work ok with other materials, but I'm gonna have to give it a "thumbs down".

Is it the one with the Blue cap?? I use it on inserts.

Ralph, the Blue cap Gorilla Glue super glue works great for feathers onto these Bohning wraps, and works fair for the Marco vanes onto the wraps, but not as good as with feathers.

There's some kind of reaction between the wraps & vanes, that keep the glue from bonding as well as it does with feathers.

I've gone back to using the original old Super Glue gel, and it's working great for everything.

No, the Clear Grip is not the same as the Blue Cap.

I didn't mean to steer anyone wrong. I was just experimenting. I just shot the ones I did with both surface application again and they are still holding strong though. There are about a thousand ways to skin a cat.

Could be the glue doesn’t like vanes? I am super glue challenged. The thin dries to fast for me to make any last second adjustments. The thicker stuff takes as long to dry as the NPV glue I normally use. But still going to give this stuff a shot next time

Kent (kmshfa), I wasn't discounting your experience at all. Please don't take it that way.

I was simply relaying my experience with the glue on the materials I use, and why I stated "It may work ok with other materials".

After leaving it for over an hour, it was still as soft as silly putty, and not bonding at all. I rolled off the residue from both the wrap & the vanes with just a swipe of my fingers.

The instructions say, that it holds in seconds, and cures thoroughly in 24 hours. Wish that had been the case.

After reading Rick's posts I dug out an old Blazer vane to glue up to a bare carbon shaft with the Gorilla clear: There was zero adhesion to the vane.

Not sure if it's the lack of air to cure the adhesive, the smooth surface of the vane, or a chemical incompatibility with the plastic. Complete no-go.

I will continue to use it with feathers, but not with vanes.
