Im still shopping for a new bow.

Custom wait times are pretty long. So I was looking at the Bear A handle take down for a 56" curve. Awful nice factory bow. Are they quiet?

anyone can add input or PM me

Yes they are quiet.I use an SBD string on mine and it's the quietest bow I own.Mine is 56".

Super nice bows--love mine. Nice and quiet, stable in hand.

Yes they are quiet. I have a #65 lb "A" handle also. I shoot 2219's from it and it's the quietest bow I have.

One of my quietest also. I use B-50 on mine. Lance

If you order one do it!!!! you want regret it. A riser with #3 limbs would be sweet but I have magnesium A riser with #1 limbs thats sweet. I have had custom bows over the years and a Bear TD will hold its own. I hope you get one.

Yep. I've shot a lot of one-piece and TD recurves over the years, but have settled on the Bear TD for my recurve needs. I wouldn't advise a 56-inch bow if your draw length is longer than 28 inches. The bow will easily draw another inch without stacking, but you'll begin to feel finger pinch. I'd recommend #3 limbs if your draw length is longer than 28 inches.

I don't have an A-riser but my B-riser Bear Kodiak Takedowns with #1 limbs are quiet. I use B50 strings on mine, and shoot arrows in the 9 to 10gpp.

I had a beautiful 56” maple A riser. Such a pretty bow. It was to be my end all bow. Takedown to go anywhere but alas it wasn’t meant to be. It freaked and moaned when I drew it no matter what I did. It was noisy upon release but it wasn’t exactly quiet either. It pales in comparison with my 59k. I could never get comfortable with the 56” amo either with my 30” draw so down the road it went. I so wanna like a T/D. Maybe I’ll give a B riser a shot one of the days and accept the creaking

Quiet comes with tuning, but the bow is not inherently noisy.

It seems my phones autocorrect got me again. It was meant to say wasn’t noisy upon release but it wasn’t exactly quiet either. Which I stand by. It did creak when drawing the bow. A problem I often hear about them. I have got to be the only Fred Bear fan who doesn’t hold them in such high praise. :)

If the limbs creak when you draw, there's something loose/not right in the mount mechanism area. That can be corrected with a little mole skin in the right place(s). Goes a long way toward quieting any other noises as well.

I assumed my new bow would creak on the draw, be noisy at release and be slower than what I'm used to (Drake and Deathmaster). It turned out to be the opposite, lol! Mine is the quietest bow I've ever shot and possibly the fastest, even with the overbuilt Bear string. I know the Bear haters are upset with me, but I couldn't help but be impressed! I think it's the new red-tipped limbs. They are tapered much like my Drake, and the tips are almost identical to those on the Deathmaster. The grip is shaped exactly like the grip on my Drake, but it's 3/4" larger in diameter. I can't imagine a better bow! I plan to blow the ears right off MTQuiver this summer!

I had a metal Bear takedown that made noise in the hinge. One day a piece of that metal broke off and the fadeout came around and smacked my nose and eye. I have never ever seen the wood risers make noise in the hinge when drawing or shooting. I have heard the strings squeak in the string grooves on one, I changed to my own B50 flemish and the problem went away. If your draw is under 29" the shorty Bear takedown is one of the most versatile accurate hunting bows ever made, almost as good as my Grooves Spitfire.
