This bow was presented to me for identification but it is unknown to me. It is of unusual design, almost like a flatbow. The glass backing is woven but visually seems different from that produced by Frank Eicholtz. The tips are fashioned from a solid piece of micarta and the string grooves are deep with the sides left long like wings. The shelf is flat and overhangs the hand. The bow info is stamped and the only writing appears to call out the model or maker as "Fury".

I thought I took a picture of the writing but sadly I missed it. It was script gold letters spelling out "Fury".

Browning made a Fury, but I don’t think yours is a Browning.

I know I've seen that serial number pattern before; six digits and the first three are 010 or sometimes 011...I think maybe it's an early American Archery, back in the Clarendon Hills days?

I think it looks like a Herter's from the shape of the nocks? I could be wrong?

Wish I could post pictures. I have a similar bow. Was stored for years in the top of a closet and in great need of refinishing. Brown woven glass. C342. 28# @ 26" was written on the right side of the riser below the grip in gold ink. " Fury " 59" was also written in gold on the right side of the riser above the grip. I think it unusual that the limbs are 2 and 3/8 " wide at the widest part. Refinished really good. No delams or glass issues. It's a good shooter. One of my Granddaughters shoots it now. I wish I knew more about it.

Browning didn't make a "Fury" until near 1970.

I would also like to add that the two types of wood in my bow look identical to yours. However on the face of the bow the wood lamination ( maybe maple) has small darker wood rectangles in the edge spaced ever so often the length of the lamination. The "Furry" on my bow was written in the same spot as yours and the ser # and weight is in the same location. Yours was stamped , mine was written. Come on somebody and tell us what we've got.

I think it's an early US Archery or Tri-State bow. The fine woven glass would be Owen's Permaglass. Here's the tip on a Jaguar.

The big difference in this bow is how wide the limbs are as they exit the riser, probably 3 1/2".

Jim, if you still have that bow, or just for the sake of better knowledge base, I am confident that bow is a Steiner Fury made by Steiner Archery of Huntington, WV, in 1959. I came to this conclusion while researching the likely provenance of another contemporary example of this model bow offered on eBay today, mistakenly described as a Browning Fury.
