How do you keep tie on nocks from moving shooting three under, I have tried super glue?

From: Therifleman

I use a sequence of overhand knots alternating front and back of string and then finish with a double knot. I wrap tag ends around small allen wrench and pull very tight. Then trim tag ends and burn. My knots only move when I deliberately twist them up and down the string while tuning. I probably have stumbled on to the right ration of serving size and knot material. Others will know more than I do about this and give you ideas of sizes to use.

I never use glue on them. I had heard that some types of glue can interact with string and cause a brittle spot. Again--- others will know more than me.

I have only been using b50 string material to tie a double constrictor knot. Put it where you want it and pull tight and burn the tag ends. They stay put. JF

I do the same as Therifleman, except I don't burn the ends. I smear a thin coating of white craft glue on the entire nock when completed. It can easily be picked off with a pin if you want to change position.

What kind are you using? Crimp on or tie on nocks?

If you tie on nocks, use a whip finish like on a dry fly, it won't move. I don't shoot 3 under, but my nocks don't move. Dental floss, and when finished, drop the last loop and and pull about four or five wraps through it and pull tight. To me, string making material is too thick and hard to smooth out without making them too big.

I just use dental floss and do over hand knots and burn the ends

Oh...my bad. I didn't see that he stated tie on nocks.

Look at Rick Barbee video on adjustable nocks.

Dental floss with duco or whatever's handy.

The new Trad Archers World magazine has an article on tie on nocks and the way he does it is how I have done it for years--never a problem with movement.

There’s so many different ways to tie on a nockset and all of them work well, I suppose. Here’s the way I’ve done it forever, it seems. It’s simple, quick and durable. I simply just “serve” a nockset on.

1) I mark the place on the string where I need the nock set with whiteout or masking tape. 2. I cut a piece of #4 nylon serving about 10” long; form a loop, and lay it on the string. Always put the loop toward the upper limb for the top nockset; toward the bottom limb for the lower nockset. 3. I take one strand and go around the string and the other strand, 5 times. 4. Push that end through the loop, and pull each end tight. 5. Trim and burn with lighter.

The good part is you can literally screw the nockset up or down the serving for fine-tuning.

I’ve never had one come loose or fail to last the life of the string.

Tie a second knot underneath the arrow nock.

Happy hunting, Jason

Jim, what's all that green stuff in the background. If I took that picture here it would be white. Probably show up better, but those are incredible pictures.

I use halo string , just make sure it is larger size than your serving.
