Love the Met. Thank for taking the time to post all of those pics. Reminds me of Chicago’s Field Museum. Not as extensive as the Met, but very nice. Love the Japanese display.

The caption that says the hunter has just loosed an arrow at a fleeing animal is the kind of ignorance common to museum and archaeology conjecture. A hunter tries his best to shoot at prey that doesn't know he is there. Most scientists know nothing about the parts of hunting that have never changed.

What is the red metal object with the arrow holes in it .Great pictures I would love to see all of that up close. I would also like to go to the Smithsonian and see all the artifacts there.

Tim, that is a shield from a medieval shield wall.
You can see the crossbow bolt and bullet holes in it.
The pic of description is hard to read.
