The spec sheet that came with my GT traditional shafts recommends an insert glue called "tip it". I've never heard of it. They recommend not using hot melt.
Has anyone used hot melt on these shafts successfully? Is there any reason not to use it other than the spec sheet??? I've used it on carbons before with no ill effects.

I use the low temp. blue hot melt as well. Trick is heat up target tip/insert only hot enough to melt glue stick. Check often till you get the feel for it. I then seat insert, then stick in water to cool. Works great.

Tip Grip is the gold tip brand and it is all I use for glue anymore. Fletchings and inserts alike.

Tip Grip is very good glue. Low temp hot melt is better if you plan on removing insert or tips later though.

I have tried a lot of different glues and epoxys for the Gold Tips. The Grip Tip worked better than any of the others but was not easy to find. Recently I have been using epoxy designed for gluing golf heats onto shafts. Compared to the ones designed for arrows it is a lot cheaper and seems to be doing better than most. It comes in a much larger size too. It is called Brampton Pro- Fix. I think I got it on Ebay.

I use cool flex blue hot melt. Never a problem. I do use a .27 caliber wire barrel swap to rough the inside of the shaft though.

If you expect to hit anything other than a target, use a good slow cure epoxy. The guys that use hot melt are the ones that complain that the insert gets pushed back into the shaft and mushrooms it on a hard hit.

I have used the amber glue sticks from Ace Hardware for over ten years now. I use them on My GT and Axis shafts as well as my wood ones. I do not have a problem with it.

I have started using gorilla glue epoxy. I havent had any inserts break loose since. I was using hot melt and had 3 inserts pop loose in march @ a 3d shoot. After multiple rounds @ the ky tradfest i had 0 inserts break loose, and trust me, the wife is hard on arrows.

Funny, I used the gorilla glue epoxy and had most inserts come loose on one dozen arrows. Super annoying. I think the Gorilla Epoxy cures too hard and doesn't remain elastic enough. I won't use that stuff anymore.

I use dollar store super glue gel, two for a dollar, with complete success. I also use it for fletching and a whole host of other tasks with total satisfaction.

I also use golf shaft epoxy. It’s made to take hard shocks. Only downside it is not reversible. Have used the Big Jim hot melt as well but mostly for wood arrows. I am not big on changing inserts.

I use hot melt glue all the time just be careful with the heat.Best to just heat the point.you must rough up the inside of the shaft to get a good bond. I use a rattail file.

I've tried a lot including the Gold Tip product and various epoxies...JB Weld etc. I have found nothing better for front inserts than Insert Weld sold by 30-06. It is a rubberized instant glue and the days of ever loosing an insert are gone forever.
