Just went to the Magnus web site. When did they get rid of all their good broadheads?

Did Magnus 1 and 2's follow Snuffers to THunderValley?

I have to look them up too. Anyone have 160 Snuffers for sale?

That's what I was looking for.

I don't mean to sound condescending, but seriously. Where have you been?? Magnus I's and II's along with snuffers of all sizes are all likely headed towards the history books if somebody doesn't get them back up and running.

yep, been a long time since Magnus had any of those available. But the other broadheads in their line are good as well. I love buzzcuts, but they aren't available in my weight. Don't over look their current lineup just because they aren't what you are used to, still a great head.

I bought two dozen Magnus Classics off the big auction site. Might want to check there.

Who honors their lifetime guarantee?

""Who honors their lifetime guarantee?""

I think a guy named Chambers. At least that's who I refer folks to. )

Lifetime guarantee. That's something to think about. The lifetime of the damaged head? The owner of that head? Or the company that made it?

I bought a lot of them when I found out they were going away. Great heads, but I've bent my share of them. I don't put stock in the guarantee anymore. If I bend one it goes into a coffee can retirement plan.

Zwickeys do the same job and I have tried to bend those on purpose. And never have.

Bowmania, yes, they went to Thundervalley. They made them for a few/several years, then they folded up shop. They talked about perhaps reopening the business at a later date, but I haven't heard anything to that effect yet.

When I heard the news I stocked up on the broadheads and small game heads I use.

Well, nothing lasts forever. Fortunately, in my present chronological bracket, I've enough broadheads to see me through...and my son...and his son...that's about it though.

I'm friends with a guy from Australia that makes broadheads, and one is the splitting image of the Magnus heads. Calls them the classics. Looks identical...

>>>"Zwickeys do the same job and I have tried to bend those on purpose. And never have."<<<

Same here, not successful yet. I'm sure it could happen but, all mine have survived so far.

Yeah, I've run Zwickeys through the mill. Solid head!

No I didn't buy the company.

I just always thought that lifetime guarantee was unusual. There is no way you can honor something like that unless your product is overpriced. They are metal. They are going to break or bend.

I shoot the 2 blade Magnus Stinger heads. A few years ago before I finally got good at sharpening my own heads ( not sure why it took me so long to figure out ) I sent Magnus 12 Stinger heads to resharpen for me, it was a service they offered by there website. A week later I received my heads back from them but instead of sharpening them they sent me brand new heads still in the pack. So I called them , thought it was a mistake. The person said no mistake, we try and take care of our customer. So I thanked I her !

It's got to be close to seven or eight years since Magnus is gone. I bought a "pile" of the yellow blister packs of Mag II's and Snuffers from the auction site, before they went to Thunder Valley. Then they were $24 for six.

I sure miss the days where those big nasty 160 Snuffers were readily available. :(

The lifetime gaurantees on broadheads are a bit of a joke IMO. It costs more to send the broadhead back to the manufacturer than the cost of buying a new one. Who is going to that trouble?

From: SdDiamondArcher
Date: 07-Apr-18

To speak on the lifetime guarantee. I used the lifetime warranty every year that i have shot Magnus heads. Mind you, this has been on current, in production heads. I used to shoot my broadheads all summer, and then before hunting season arrived, I would send in all used broadheads and get brand new ones, just for the price of me shipping them. Also, on any heads that were damaged, I just would email pictures to them, and they would send me heads, no questions asked. To me, it's no joke, a lot of companies don't offer any type of warranty. I love magnus, and in my search for a broadhead to use this season, I might look to getting some of the Magnus Classics, just because I have used the name "magnus" for many years of compound hunting.

From: Jeff Durnell Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member

You'd shoot them all summer then send them back for new ones? That's just wrong.

From: JakeBrake

“You'd shoot them all summer then send them back for new ones? That's just wrong.“

No kidding...that’s crosses the line into taking advantage of the warranty

From: SdDiamondArcher
Date: 07-Apr-18

How exactly is it wrong? I emailed back and forth with Mike Sohm several times and he had no issues with me sending them back before hunting season started. I don’t feel bad about it in the least bit. I guess I could’ve just shot them in to a steel plate and then sent them back because they broke.

From: Babysaph Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member
Date: 08-Apr-18

Well how could the company make any money unless they were overpriced to begin with? You basically shot the heads for nothing.,

From: shooter
Date: 08-Apr-18

Shoot them all summer long and then ask for new ones? And you guys wonder why a place folds? Yeah, they are making money and keeping the doors open that way.

From: SdDiamondArcher
Date: 08-Apr-18

You guys are really looking way too far in to this. Yes, I shot broadheads all summer long and then got them replaced. I own about 12 Magnus heads and would shoot 2 of them, along with field points all summer long. By the time I sent them in, the blades were chipped and they were beat up. That is what the lifetime warranty is for. I wasn’t cheating the system, I didn’t discover some crazy loophole. I shot the heads, they would get damaged, I would get them replaced.

In 2005 I bought 3 abowyer bonehead broadhead's l liked em so much in 2006 I bought 6 more. I still have 5 .....Iv NEVER sent one back but they have a unconditional guarantee. As for zwickey's I currently am useing the no mercy single bevel been useing zwickey heads on & off for 35 years & yes they will bend I've split the furrels broke bleeders but great heads shot 7 deer with a 4 edge Eskimo before a bleeder broke after breaking the leg on a quartering away buck

From: Bernie P.

Magnus still makes some excellent broadheads. You're very much mistaken if you think otherwise.Different from the originals yes.But still very high quality just the same including the lifetime guarantee.

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 08-Apr-18

It was a dumb move to give a lifetime guarantee, since folks will, and do take advantage of that. It isn't hard to see where that would go in today's world.

From: Jeff Durnell Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member
Date: 08-Apr-18

I'm not reading too much into it. I'm reading exactly what you wrote. That may be what warranties are used for by guys like you, but that's NOT what they're for, by guys like me.

I use broadheads to shoot groundhogs and practice bales before the season, but I'm careful with them because I bought them, they're mine, and if I dull, chip, or ruin them due to enough regular use, or because I hit a rock I didn't see, or whatEVER, it's on me. I'm not entitled. I'm responsible for them, and I'm accountable for my actions.

From: DarrinG
Date: 08-Apr-18

I always read into such a warranty that if the broadhead failed because if a manufacturing error or didn't spin true or out of tolerance, then that's what the warranty is for. If it's something I did, then that's on me. My view on such a warranty.

LIFETIME REPLACEMENT GUARANTEE Our Magnus Lifetime Replacement Guarantee is very simple. If at any time you break, bend or have a concern with any Magnus Broadhead, send it to us and we replace it. As a example: When you shoot through an animal and the broadhead hits a rock on the ground and is damaged, send it in and we replace it. ITS THAT SIMPLE!! PLEASE FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS FOR RETURNING BROADHEADS FOR WARRANTY REPLACEMENT... (Please note that the lifetime replacement guarantee applies to broadhead products only) Wrap the damaged broadhead so broadhead does not protrude thru wrapping. Please make sure you put in a padded envelope or a small box. Please include a letter stating which broadhead it is you are shipping to us along with your complete name and address and phone number. PLEASE DO NOT PUT IN A REGULAR ENVELOPE. THE BROADHEAD WILL NOT MAKE IT THRU THE POSTAL SYSTEM. We normally ship broadhead replacement the same day we receive.

We recommend you ship by first class mail to: Post Office Delivery Magnus Outdoor Products P.O. Box 1877 Great Bend, KS 67530 OR UPS, Fedex Delivery Magnus Outdoor Products 800 Washington St. Great Bend, KS 67530

LL Bean got rid of a similar warranty recently because people were buying their products and wearing them out and sending them back for replacement. Based on that mentality maybe I should contact Ford and see if I can get a free replacement on my truck, it is getting pretty high in mileage after all.

From: deerhunt51

Don't mean to sound like a smart a** but by the time you pay postage, you have paid for a new broadhead.

From: Babysaph Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member

Well if they offered that kind of warranty then it was their fault.

From: Red Beastmaster
Date: 09-Apr-18

For years I read on here about "broadhead tests", shooting into concrete blocks etc. Then thinking nothing of sending the Magnus heads back for free replacement. I was disappointed in our community that used to represent a higher tier of sportsmen.

I guess the good old days are truly gone.

I just had the tip on the Magnus stinger crimp a little,,,,, after going thru a exotic sheep, it buried into a rock in the ground........ That sure is not the manufacturers fault, heck show me a head, that can penetrate rocks,,,,,,,,,

Took it home, a second on the grinder, good as new,,,,,,, all in all nice heads, but I like the Buzz Cut the best.....

I never have had one fail on me yet,,,,,,,,

A friend showed me a Iron Will head yesterday,,,, it was okay, but still like the Magnus better, it flies good,,,,,,

Any warranty should be for DEFECTS in materials and workmanship. The product breaks in a way that was not caused by the user and should not have happened. To offer over and above that is just foolish and detrimental to the bottom line. Taking care of your customers is one thing but to give free stuff for no real reason is foolish and really, more of a gimmick to get people to buy your product. Yes, it works, but could very easily bite you in the hind end.

I don't think Roger had the guarantee. But if you think about it for a new company and a company taking over his line, it's not a bad ploy.

First off it's a pretty good advertising gimmick, if you can call it a gimmick.

Second, and most important, you get to see why your heads failed. We are the best testing grounds in the world.

As they learned they didn't factor enough 'return money' into the cost of the new head. Yea, believe it or not, they weren't expensive enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
