Post pics of any Elburg Bows and opinions !!!

Date: 01-Apr-18

I have three of them and always wanted a Cheetah, assuming it is from before he went to designing the super short bows. Not that there is a thing wrong with those. Just not where I came in.

What are the specs on yours, and when can we expect pictures.

As you doubtless know, Elburg invented the Grizzly broadhead, among others. So all you have to figure out now is which shaft to use. :)

I thought here was already an Elburg picture thread? But I couldn't find one.

There are two short videos on youtube of the Cherokee.

Only problem for some in getting into the Elburg thing is that he was a heavy bow guy himself, in a heavy bow age, and light draw weight bows are not as common as they are in some brands.

Well crap... there's an extra space in there between the ? and t...

But when I copied it... most of the pics are no longer there...

It was titled "where are all the Elburgs"

Might be able to find it that way... Jonathan

Harry Elburg was pretty much a one man band, so "all" of the Elburgs aren't going to be in the thousands. I met Harry many moons ago at ETAR and owned one of his longbows for awhile. Also had some of his Grizzly broadheads. Don't know what to tell you J.R.....they are great longbows but I can't say they were a lot different from others of like design.

You won’t see pics on any old thread due to the photobucket fiasco.

I have three Elburgs left out of five. One is a 68"58# @ 28 IT'S A Old Cedar made from Red Cedar. Harry said it was one of the first bows he put on the market. Also a Condor 64"59 @ 28. both longbows. A Jaguar Mite 54" 53# @ 27 . I think they are very good bows.

One of the first longbows I ever owned was a 56" Mite, that was back in '95 or '96. Was a good shooter.

Back in the 90s I had two Elburgs. The Jaguar longbow 56#@28" with elms limbs under clear glass and bubinga riser. The other was a beautiful 62" Cherokee flatbow 57#@28" with dark walnut limbs under clear glass with bubinga riser. That flatbow was sweet.

Here is a pic that I took of Harry Elburg at the 1992 GLLI in Marshall, Michigan (digital pic of a paper pic). That 4 day event was almost more hobby excitement than a guy can absorb!

I owned three different Elburg bows at one time: a Condor, and a couple Cherokee Magnums. My favorite was the Condor, which was a straight- limbed longbow with narrow limbs. Unfortunately, they were all heavier draw-weights, upper 50's mostly. At the time I lived about 40 minutes from Harry and was able to get to know him and visit him occasionally. I killed several deer using his bows and his Wolverine broadheads. I wish I had had the foresight to have bought some lighter weight bows but at the time I never planned on getting old. I have some pics of the bows but no way to scan them unfortunately. Northerner, I went to the GLLI back in '92-thanks for sharing the photo, great time!

I had a Falcon years ago but got too be too much for me 65# Great shooter though !!!

Jeff, he might not have let you off the hook so easily. When I was coming off a plane crash around 97, I got into conversation with Harry about a lighter bow, now that given that I was getting older, blah, blah. He was in complete agreement about the whole aging thing, and eventually asked how old I was which would have been about 40. Stunned, polite silence. Been swinging his bows and my other 65 pounder right up to this day, though I have started to organize a plan B. :)

From: Scooter Trash

Yeah, it's pretty fast. It's around 65# at my draw. I'm shooting 2216's out of it. I shot it through a chronograph about 20 years ago and it averaged 211 fps.

Some of the best bows I have ever shot. I had a Cherokee Flatbow that was just outstanding. This one was 61# @ 27.5". Very powerful and very accurate. I posted a few videos on youtube with her.

I had a Cherokee Flatbow magnum 58",,,,, Harry never even advertised that I know of. I collected brochures from all the trad dealers since 1980 and I have stacks of them but no Elburg archery. I could never get anything from harry I even begged his wife to write me up something at that time but his bows became popular not only by how they looked and shot but by word of mouth.

I never even saw one or held a Elburg when I ordered mine it was like waiting to open a Christmas present you had no idea what to expect then when you did it was like a head rush and out the door you ran to shoot it,,, unbelievable!!

with the internet we know exactly what we're getting now,, I miss that "what if" feeling..

From: lefty4
Date: 06-Apr-18

I keep watching this thread hoping for some good pics, and a lefty for sale. From those I have seen, I certainly wouldn't call them beautiful. But they do shoot very well. I like them.

I am anxious to hear what you think about your "new" Cougar, JR.

JR, I think you're gonna be very pleased with that Cheetah. I almost bought one last year from RMSG. I have three of Harry's longbows...if the pic posts...from the top- a Condor, Harry's version of an asl; a Jaguar Magnum and a Cherokee Flatbow I bought from meatCKR (howdy Steve!). I changed out the grips to leather lace (other than the beaver tail) as Harry had done some back in the day Nothing really fancy pants about his bows, just straight forward tools that perform as well or better than most of 'high end' bows out there. Sorry, only pic I have loaded right now.

Forgot I had these..... Tajue17, Harry did have a brochure. I found this while researching his bows on the internet.
