Just saw a post where a leatherwaller just got a new to him arrow quiver that held 4 arrows and it got me to thinking. I just got a new 3 arrow quiver to go on my bow, I was using a 6 arrow quiver that was a side carry, and it wasn't working for me. How many arrow do you carry when hunting and have you ever ran out?

From: Jeff Durnell Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member
Date: 31-Mar-18

I use a back quiver and carry at least 5-6 broadheads, 5-6 Magnus small game heads, and 1 or 2 Judos.

Years ago when I carried less, I missed and then killed a groundhog, and then a buck came in and I spine shot him. It was quite a scene and I don't want to get into all of the details, but I sure wished I was carrying another arrow or two that day.

Anywhere from four to thirty, depending on my intentions when I leave the cabin. Mostly, for a days deer hunting when there is no small game in season, I have about half a dozen in my bow quiver.

Four or 5 at the most

My go-to quiver holds 4 broadheads and once in a while I'll take a blunt too. Usually I only use one arrow. Twice I needed 2 and once while turkey hunting I used 3. If I ever need all four in one day - it's time to go back to camp or home and get my mind right again.

3 broadheads and a judo in my Mini-Catquiver and one broadhead in a single arrow bow quiver.

4- broadheads 1-judo point

From: Nemophilist

For hunting around home 3 or 4 arrows using a bow quiver. When hunting out west 8 to 10 arrows, 4 in a bow quiver attached to my bow and 4 to 6 more in another quiver attached to my backpack. I always carry at least one small game arrow.

From: Bear 1955

Thanks for the reply's, I guess I'll just have to try the 3 arrows and see how it go's. Turkey season open's soon I hope I don't run out. LOL!

I carry a whole pile. I carry blunts, judos, broadheads. But then again I'm just as likely to end up down at the river shooting frogs or fish as I am sitting in a deer stand. Or, sneaking through a Pecan bottom shooting squirrels.

From: GLF
Date: 31-Mar-18

3 broad heads and a judo, and no I've never ran out. Only shooting 1 animal. I do use a backquiver with a ton of arrows for small game.

From: protaxidermist
Date: 31-Mar-18

3 Broadheads 1 rubber blunt. Thats 3 deer to skin if I shoot straight which is a joke. I use the rubber blunt to warm up before I go to the stand.

From: Bushytail Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 31-Mar-18

Depends on how many arrows the quiver holds. I've been trying different quivers the past year or so. But usually around 4 for deer hunting. If small game is in, sometimes I'll take the back quiver with around 4 to 7 small game arrows plus the deer arrows.

Usually 5 with broadheads and one with a hex head while deer hunting. For squirrel, as many as I can put in a back quiver

Three broad heads and one blunt regardless of what I'm hunting. Ran out once quite a few years ago on a little spike buck. I got the yips. Missed him three times. I figure if I miss three times, it deserves to walk. Pulled out my pocket camera and took his picture as he walked away.

I very seldom need or get a second arrow, though I have killed a couple of deer and turkey with a second shot.

Years ago I never carried more than three arrows. Wheel bow days mind you. I figured 3 arrows= 3 deer. Yeah, I was smuggly confident. Until the day I had to climb out of a tree to retrieve an arrow to keep hunting!

I can’t see heading out with fewer than 4 good broadheads; out west I always had 8 and a couple stumping arrows with Judos. Now I like to keep a couple flu-flus with hex blunts.

5 arrows. 4 broadheads and 1 Judo. I also carry 4 Hex Heads in my pack. Walking out midday during a deer hunt often turns into a squirrel hunt for me, and I screw off broadheads and screw on Hex Heads if more than the 1 Judo is needed.

I carry 2 quivers. My GN has the heads for Deer and my Safari Tuff has my small game arrows. I just ordered a Keyes 3D quiver for carrying my small game arrows for this season.

4 to 6 usually now a days for a long while depending what quiver I'm using but with that said early on in carrier I'd have to take just 1 arrow with me because it forced me to buckle down and make that shot too.

Try that one when you are missing repeatedly it will tighten you up or you have to get down get your arrow and touch up and climb back up that's a drag too.

3 top quality arrows and 1 lesser quality for a second/finishing shot if needed. All with broadheads.

Here in Florida I carry 3 broadheads (grizzly) and 2 hex blunts in a Safari Tuff duiker and 1 more broadhead in a DIY solo arrow bowquiver, so a total of 6 arrows. The blunts are mostly just for shooting during stillhunt sessions although they occasionally are flung at squirrel and rabbit.

This is a popular thread,

I used to carry three arrows in my hand before I could afford a Back Quiver, now I carry as many that fit the bow as far as spine that I can comfortably fit in the quiver. Ten or twelve, rabbit and hogs are open season plus the dangerous critters here in Florida.

You never know when the Kings Men will attack!!!!

I haven't hunted in about two years, but itching to fillet a pig.

Was elk hunting Colorado, went to town at week's end for a shower---a fellow was in bow shop buying arrows. He was from a southern state, brought only three arrows on his elk hunt, missed some cows ran out of arrows. He obviously was pretty sure he had plenty of arrows when he left home.

From: fisherick

I now carry 4-5 arrows, 3 w/broadheads, 1 w/judo, extra BH in quiver. I use to carry 3 arrow quiver, but ran out twice. Once while turkey hunting I put 3 arrows into the bird. Second time I was deer hunting I spined a deer from treestand and missed follow up shots thru brush, had to climb down, collect arrow and finish her off.

From: Sunset Hill
Date: 02-Apr-18

I carry a backquiver full. Around 10-12 arrows of broadheads and blunts. The mix varies depending on the variety of small game around. Never know when you might need follow up shots either. When I shotgun hunt I carry quite a few shells too, not just the minimum I might need.

3 broadheads and 1 blunt
