Has anyone tried to up the weights of their carbon shafts by inserting those weighted "tubes' or 'sticks" to make them heavier? Before I purchase them I'm curious to hear some opinions on the ease of doing this and the outcome. Thanks in advance, Paul

I have used them. I've played with them a lot. Put a piece of the heavier tube up front, then lighter tube in the back, to front load. Glue a piece of the small diameter tube inside the larger, also to frontload. The only problem with them, is when you hit your target, they slide back and pop out the knock. So I put a few pinches in them while sliding them into the arrow and they hold better. They are easy to use, cut with a pair of electrical pliers. Slide the tube into the arrow, mark the end even at the end of the shaft, pull out, line up knock and mark for the length of mark inside the shaft, cut and you're done.

Or, buy a spine heavier and use more frontal weight. No slippin and slidin that way.

I use 3 Rivers weight tubes in all of my arrows. To avoid any movement of the tube inside the shaft, you only have to pinch the tube every 6" when sliding them inside the shaft. Mine NEVER come loose. If you want to remove the tube, take a long safety pin, bend the point to a 90 degree hook, and snag the tube and pull it out. My tubes run full length from behind the point insert to 1/4" in front of the nock end within the shaft. They add mass to the arrow, and from my experience, do not affect arrow spine. I can easily bring the weight of my Beman ICS Bowhunter shafts to 525 +/- grains using 125 grain points and three grains per inch weight tubes. My shafts are 400 spine, cut to 30.5" I tune by trimming shafts, not by adding extra point weight to a stiff shaft. I have never failed to get great bareshaft flight out to 20 yards using my Toelke bows and this method.

I've used weedwacker cord. I guess it's close. No effect on spine. Always had better broadhead flight with stiffer spine more point weight option.

I use 3/16" nylon rope inside mine, no complaints here.

If you want the real heavy.... Go to the hardware store and buy some aquarium tube.....

Used small diameter rope in mine, after installing brass insert.I put rope in shaft and making sure it's in the front of the shaft.

I've experimented with a few methods...having said that, if it were me and I liked GT, I'd just get some of their Heavy Hunter shafts.
