Around 1964-1965...I don't have a firm way of narrowing it down. Kelly might.
The riser material is Brazilian rosewood (Dalbergia nigra)

after Mapleridge the address was 4th street, can't remember how long Bob was there, maybe two years, Stickers on Wings are a big help in determining the earlier years, blue stickers on PII limbs are first year '66.

I'm no expert but I would think between '66 and when ever AMF started which was '69-'70? then Head Ski after 2-3 years.

Yes it is,You have a nice one there yourself Chris, I don't know how many years the RWH's were 62" but after a while they were all 58". I think they perform better than the Browning line except for the Wasp which is a overlooked bow that many folks who are looking for a fast well mannered bow don't seem to consider.

I would say the earliest would be '66, other than that I couldn't be positive,, there is a difference in the stickers between yours and cueman's, the "Wing Archery Co." appears to be smaller on yours and I would put it as an earlier model, a big help would be to know what year the RWH went from 62" to 58", I don't know when that happened,,, that riser is gorgeous.

Non typical, yours is 1963.
RWSerial numbers for Red Wing hunters are 1965. These also have Bubinga in handles.
62” Red Wing Hunters we’re custom orders so even tho you have a really low serial number I’m guessing very late 1962/early 1963 because of the Brazilian Rosewood handle and the gold decal.

Head Ski was first in late 1967 then AMF came after around 1969.
Here's an early 1967 transition bow just before Head Ski on the left and an older rosewood RWH on the right that I figured was 1964. Two different bows really. There were models in-between.

I really shouldn't say the earliest is '66 because I don't know for sure when the first 58"s were produced. But like I do know the stickers are a big help in model year identification.

First Red Wing Hunters built in 1959. They had maple with walnut stripe handles. Next in 1969 we’re walnut with rosewood stripe. I have one with serial number R- 224, walnut w/rosewood stripe with the Mapleridge decal.
Of interest to some the difference between Mapleridge and 4th Street decals was purely their mailing address. Same building on the corner of Mapleridge and 4th Street. The placement of their mailbox got changed, suspect by the Post Office to make the route more efficient.
The gold decals on bows from late 1962 till transition time in 1967 are Houston Tx produced from the same building at corner of Mapleridge and 4th Street.

I believe the very first Red Wing Hunters were 62” bows. Then shortly after the 58” was added. Then 62” was a custom length option. I believe that option ended around 1965. Never have I seen a 62” RWH with a Bubinga handle, which was the handle wood of 1965-66 RWH.
Another tidbit for you. The 62” Thunderbird introduced in early 1967, serial numbers T7- were made on the 62” Red Wing Hunter form.
All early Wing bows and many others made during that era were measured to the end of tips so the Rosewood RWH that says 58” or 62” need strings for 57” and 61” bows. AMO bows are measured to the string grooves so a 58” Head Ski RWH is longer than the Rosewood ones.

Great stuff as usual, Kelly...thanks for chiming in. And Cueman...every time I think I've seen your nicest rosewood bows, you post another one that's even nicer! That 62" rosewood RWH is just plain sick.
Anyone who has never had a chance to own a pre-1964 Wing is in for a treat if and when they can get one.

Fortunate for someone, I don't care for the grip on the RWH so it will be going on the chopping block for someone else to enjoy real soon. When I get a day off work, it will go to the big auction site in the sky.

Yeah...sent the one above down the road...it is in the pic. Gorgeous wood!
Kept an old tiny tip 50# RWH with a Bear quiver bushing and some finish issues for hunting.
I also find the grip on my 1967 RWH to be a bit lumpy...someone else might like it.

I purchased a used RWH in the fall of 1963. RH 58” 45#. Took my first deer with it in November of that year. Four of us drove to Houston in spring of 1964 to meet Bob Lee and tour his shop. Became a Wing Archery dealer the next year and sold lots of their bows. Still own a few.

According to you guys i have one that is 65,66,or 67.Ra 6207. My son bought it for me with a cracked handle. Bow was mint except for the handle crack, which i fixed.I slendered the riser to fit me better when i fixed the crack. From your pics. It must have a Bubinga riser. Those old tiny tip rwh are the best looking IMHO. Mine shoots nice, but to strong for me.

I have a Red Wing Hunter from the AMF era, the riser looks like treated maple. The brown wood is similar to what Bear called futurewood and has some nice fiddleback figure.
Now I want one of those rosewood ones.
