Picked up a new to me black widow lag and it has some camo in front of limbs it's not a thick coated painted just sprayed on lightly and the handle was wrapped so I removed the wrap now there is white spots on grip so I am looking for a list of stuff I need to strip the paint on limbs and to polish them back to new and then polish the handle All input appreciated looking for a list of stuff I can pick up from Walmart thanks ...

I would try alcohol. If that don't cut it a rag dampened with paint thinner. Any Auto rubbing /polishing compound will polish it out like new. Then a good coat of paste wax.>>>----> Ken

Yep BW will be happy to do it for $250 where I would do it for $50 but then I didn't pay $250 for a lot of my bows. Not everyone has that kind of spare money. >>>----> Ken

If it were mine, I'd send it to BW and let those boys do their magic. whatever the cost, they will do it up right. I sent them A PSA that I had and I had beat it up pretty good. It came back looking brand new.

Got it all off and put used a car wax in limbs but found a previous repair so this one might be going back to widow to get fixed correct and refinished or may get a pair of rattle snake skins on it

If there is no separation that is likely why the bow was originally painted before it was sold to the guy you bought it from.
Listen to what Ken (2bears) is telling you. There is nothing magic about refinishing a bow. Just take your time, use common sense, and ask for advice from some of the folks on here that do it. You can make it look as nice as anybody can.

It is hard for me to tell from the pictures what or even exactly where it is. It almost looks like that piece is fractured but that would be unusual if the piece over and under it is still O.K. It could be just a gouge from a fence or something. I don't see what you think is a previous repair. If it is shooting O.K. with no movement in that spot and no noise as it flexes. I would make it pretty again and keep on trucking. Can you tell how deep it is? It might easily be removed. You have to make sure to remove the same amount from both sides and both limbs. The stability and tiller must remain balanced. If you don't have the measuring instruments and the machines. I can help you out.As far as just slicking it up I can talk you through it.Any questions shoot me a PM. >>>---->Ken

The white spot on the glass is where the glue has turned loose between the glass and actionwood. There could be deeper damage ? If you plan on keeping bow you could inject 420 locktite under glass. You could mix paint to match the gray and touch up the flaw.Sand bow with 600 grit and spray with clear. If it was mine that is what I would do.

I would send it back for the to at least check out. It looks like it's delaminating. Probably from someone hitting it against something hard, then moisture has gotten in. I received a bow on a trade deal that had almost the same thing. Got lucky and traded back.

The price for a refinish on a one piece bow is $200. +$30. Shipping. + Your cost to mail to BW. + cost for repair that they may or may not attempt because of liability.

Well send a email with pics to black widow and this is what I got back so will toss it on bowrack and use it as a learning experience I guess ...
Hello Jason,
There is really not a way to repair the bow. You should keep it sealed with a thin super glue to keep moisture from getting to the wood. The white spot will always be there. We can refinish the bow if you wish. Cost is $200 to refinish plus $25 return shipping. The is no way to tell how long the bow will last. I really would not put that much money into it.
If you have more questions please give us a call.

Put some loctite 420 on the side and it will probably run down under the glass into that white area, then clamp it.

That was good advice from Roger at BW which is not a surprise. That is the way they role. I have owned a BW since 1996. I delaminated a limb tip far beyond what I thought could be repaired. However, a limb tip is much different than where your fault is located further down the limb. They repaired my limb tip which has served me well for another 15 years at about 10,000 shots per year. You can trust Roger's advice.

That is thee worst area to be compromised on the entire limb. I could never draw it fully again without waiting for a broken limb to the face. Their advice to hang it up is solid, IMO.

Just curious does it have carbon lams in the limbs? Those types of limbs are not supposed to have strap on quivers. Sorry to hear it can't be fixed.
