Didn't want to clutter up Jinkster's thread, so I thought I'd start a new thread showing your wood arrows and/or animals you've taken with your "lovely wood arrows" wood be appropriate. Please, no bashing of carbon and aluminum arrows. :)

I knew this thread was coming in the wake of " hard to love" thread. And that's cool, good food for thought on the other thread, and I'm sure this thread will produce a lot of eye candy and good pictures. Ron, you build some really sweet woodies man.

Woodies shoot straight for me when I do my job. Here's a group of 60-65# spine, 610 grain tapered doug firs (Surewood shafts) shot from the 59# 1953 K-4 at 25 yards. The low one is the last shot, which I chickened out on and dropped after nocking one in the center with the previous arrow. This was a particularly good day (we know they're not all like that!).

These vintage shaft new POC arrows worked pretty well from 30 yards also, w/a 40# 62 Kodiak.

I ONLY use wood arrows. Not because they shoot better... I wouldn't know since I've only shot one or two carbon arrows... but because I just like using wood arrows! There's enough hi-tech stuff in life. Arrows don't have to be one of them.

I really prefer plain & simple. Just me, but if they are too fancy, too much work involved, I will be afraid to shoot them! I've had a few, always end up leaving them home.

But quality counts; best batch of old Cedar shafts, really cool Goose feathers, and special speed nocks that are sturdy and solid.

Just can't beat good old growth cedar. I have stacks of arrows of all kinds in the basement. I shoot whatever suits me all summer, but when deer season comes around the only arrows in my quiver are wood. Something about a cedar with a broadhead on the end, just beautiful.

Man this is an awesome thread. No arguments, no FOC debates, no know-it-all- isms, just beauty and fact. Pictures tell the truth and I love to see animals taken with good ole wood arrows.

From: Bob Rowlands

I just finished up 60 doug fir arrows a week ago. Early this past week I found a superb AAA piece of 8/4 cedar 12' long. I could NOT believe how perfect the grain was. I got so excited like a kid in a candy store when I started ripping blanks. Just freaking unbelieveably perfect grain.lol Now mind you i'm 63. So, I am starting a new batch of 100. Yeah...they are that addictive to make. These shafts are sooo sweet. Any arrow will beat a 'crap grain' wood arrow, but NO synthetic arrow gonna beat a good wood arrow to a die hard traditionalist like myself. New arrow materials just don't even begin to cut it...and dats jest be da way it is.
