There are 9 fellows in our area who belong to what we loosely call a bowyers guild. Each Saturday there are always some of us who get together to work on bows and archery related goodies. Just a few pictures that I hope are interesting.

5 fellows this week and these are the items worked on, making ILF limbs, a youth bow, 2 long bows, and a recourve.

I am glad I have been a part of this for about 8 years now. Sometimes I just like to watch, listen, and learn from those that have been in archery for a lot longer than I have. I am thankful that they are willing to share.

Don't believe for a minute that Saturday is the only work day. The retired guys in the group are working on bows almost every day and the few of us that still have to work have to fit it into our spare time.

Kurt B is right about some of us retired guys working on bows almost every day. This week for something to do I glued up a Blair longbow for myself with a riser of snake wood and apple wood with limbs of pau ferro veneer under clear glass. Hope to shoot it tomorrow for the first time at the bowyer get together. I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow and post them.

I think that the retired guys still have to fit their bow making into their spare time but they just have a little more spare time to work with. The more we do, the more we learn and the more we can pass on; this then is a benefit for those who don't have as much time. I am one that is in between; I have more time but a lot to learn.

That’s pretty cool right there. Wonder where else these are going on.

Another day at the Penn Archery Works Bowyers Guild shop get together and it was time to inspect the 2 longbows and 1 recurve that were finished during the week. Now it's on to new projects.

Planing a 17" ILF riser. There have already been 2 17" risers and 2 15" risers built but this one will have a few minor changes. Always learning.
