So I'm working on ordering my new limbs and if I go to short limbs I will need a new string so if I currently shoot a 13" riser with long limbs my measurement makes a 58" bow? If that is right then short limbs will give me a 54" bow? If this is correct then I need to order a 50" string? This is sure different then back when I would just bring my compound to the shop and it's all done for me hah!

The BEST thing to do, if you are going to have a string made, is talk to the maker, tell them what you have, and they will make it to fit.

The AMO standard is 3" shorter than bow length.

Unfortunately, all limbs and risers don't follow the AMO standard.

I'll measure the bow from nock to nock along the belly and make a string 3" shorter then the measurement.I make all my strings 3" shorter for longbows or recurves.
