I am setting up a new "Pika" from Dan Toelke. The bow is 56" 38# @ 28" my draw is 28 & 1/2 used to be 29. So I think I'm going closer to 41 # I have been using Axsi 500 with 145 Target Point. Bare shaft points far right but straight up and down. With 5 inch feathers no problem straight in and on spot. I'm thinking I should go to "traditional only" by 3 rivers archery 600. But I don't know if I would have trouble with the field points & Zwickey to blade 135 gr. broadhead.
I've been using carbons for a long time. I don't really want to go back to aluminum. But if someone thinks that is wise, I will. I don't want to load it up on the business end. Is there someone that has a bow in like # that could give me some advice before I make that decision.
I really like the bow, quiet, smooth, very nice draw, no stacking. One thing about it, it's more accurate then me. Which makes it nice and fun to shoot.
BUT Photos cannot do this bow justice, Dan's and Jared’s work is fabulous. I used arrows that were too stiff for the bow. But, the Pika handled them well. I had 8” groups. I talked today to Dan and he said I would have 4” groups if I get the right arrows.( 600 ) tuned to the bow. Again I cannot say enough about the accuracy, smoothness, quietness of this bow. You can really tell that a lot of workmanship and talent was put into this, Can I say “work of art and skill call a bow. Both of them have been given the Fantastic talent. One thing I really like about it also is how the wood (mango) is such a natural camouflage.
And if you call to talk to Dan about a bow, asked him about his hundred yard dash with the BEAR !!! That was caused by a rock !

Your dilemma sounds like mine with what works and what the charts say. By the looks of the bow I would classify it a high performance bow. I would spine up, and that’s from a recent experience on a recurve. I was told 600 spine would work well from a 40# bow. They bareshaft fine but if I don’t have a perfect release there all over the place. My 500 spine are heavier but work better for me. With most 3D’s I shoot the ranges are 30 yards and under so the heavier arrow doesn’t handicap me. I would not have an issue hunting with this rig. Don’t shoot over 20 at game. I don’t think you would gain anything with metal arrows unless you know how to keep them straight.

Beautiful bow. I'm itchin" for a Pika or Chinook, can't decide. I have a 64" Whip Classic, 45# @ my 27" draw, shooting Traditional GT 600's, 30" (full length) with 150 or 175 gr pt. They fly perrrrrrrfectly.
Out of all the bows I own, I find myself reaching for my Toelke the most. I agree with, photos do not do Toelke's justice.
Enjoy! Tom

Beautiful bow.
You say 500s point far right. Do you mean the nock is pointing to the right? I would think the 500s are to stiff. Feathers can and will correct bad tuning. They also cover up a lot of form issues. Proper tuning yields a more forgiving set up.

Nise bow. I been contemplating one myself. A shorter bow would be great when turkey hunting or hunting in tighter situations. Thanks for posting.

I think the 600's with at the most 40-50gr. screwi in behind the insert, with a stingers 125 or Zwickey 2 blade 135 will be just fine.
I guess I have to say, I wish I had this bull 15 years ago. it would save me a lot of money !
But he didn't make them then. I have to say it's the best shooting bow I have had hands down. Even with the wrong arrows.
It's going to be a lot of fun with tuned arrows.
