I have shot very little for the last 5 months. You might be surprised how long a layoff you can do without experiencing much deterioration in your shooting.

Mostly Danny, you will forget your bad habits. Not a bad thing.

Man I've got the same issue, but hitting right. I've done this consistently for several weeks now and my groups at 15 yards are nothing to write home about either.

I've decided to break down my form, release, etc. and increase my arrows per day until I figure this thing out.

Good luck with your issue BOX.

No problem with left or right, up or down. That is just where my arrows go. One day I will hit the target and send a photo to "First Shot". I may need George D. to teach me how to send a pic.

Sometimes laying the bow down for a few days is my best theropy for poor shooting. It may not work for everyone but it does for me. Just my opinion, and not wrong or right.

If your going hunting tomorrow it's kind of hard to lay the bow down... Barebow is so much fun but to be proficient you have to be able to know what went wrong on a bad shot. Just as important, what you did on a great shot. Going hog hunting tomorrow with my whip, shooting well 25 and in.

It would kill me to take a layoff. If I see myself losing control I switch to a different bow. I always shoot the new bow better as it makes you concentrate on the basics again.

No shots on hogs but did heart shoot a rabbit, that's always a good confidence builder.

Okay this isn't going to sound real, because I had a hard time with it !!!

Five years ago, I sold all my blows because I had shoulder issues. I haven't picked up the bow and shot since I purchased one from Chad Holm. He lives a couple hours for me. I've had about three his bows before. I also purchased one from Dan Toelke, a Pika. I've had it for about a week and a half or more, so I thought I would take it to the range and try it out. I started close with the Bale maybe 10 feet away from me, that was for the safety of others. Found I didn't need that close. So I put it 5 yards away, and then 12 yards away.

It surprised me, when I was doing 8 inch groups, after not shooting for five years.

I think it's that bicycle thing !!! Maybe it just a fluke. But I also think it's a sweet shooting bow. Smooth, quiet, accurate, and no stacking at all. I shot for about two hours. Sure was nice to get back to it. It also seems that the bow is faster than the poundage that was made for. 56 38# @ 28 . It seems like it's got the speed of the 43# @ 28 . All I know is it's one of the best bows I've ever shot.

As far as my shoulders, I started taking Turmeric, twice a day. About a half a teaspoon. Surety cure my shoulders, its anti-inflammatory Herb. I guess I got to blame my cure on something !

Layoffs improve my shooting. When I start shooting again I'm forced to run through my shot sequence with more awareness. If that makes any sense. After shooting a lot for a while I become complacent and just sling arrows.

I had a 3yr.layoff from shooting. First arrow was right where I was looking. Other than the shooting muscles needing a workout, the technique and accuracy never went away. Just like riding a bike!
