I am currently shooting a 13" riser with 30# long limbs. I am finding that I feel I can now bump the weight up. I am trying to decide between 35# limbs and tightened all the way or just get the 40# limbs and I can lower the weight by adjusting if need be keeping in mind that the 13" riser adds weight. In MA it is a 40# @ 28" draw deer minimum so that will play into what I need. Also I read at my 26/27" draw that the short limbs would be better for me? I do like shorter for hunting so any opinions on short vs long?

The first thing you need to know is what the actual draw weight of those limbs is with that riser. Pad angles can have a major effect on actual draw weight.

Dave from what I know the 13" riser with the 30# limbs makes it 39# give or take a pound.

So spike....that's a 30% increase in weight over what they are marked. That being the case, I'd guess that 40lb. limbs are going to put you in the 50'ish pound range. Maybe not, but I'd bet it's close.

Also, Not all I.L.F. limbs are rated for 25 inch risers.

tradtech shorts 40lb. would be a good option for you imo. they are based on a 17" riser....ron

monkeyball, Morrison. So if I go with 40 pound limbs that will put me about 50 pound draw which will probably be too much. If I crank it down it may go to 45-46?

Boy spike....that's a gamble. But that said, it sounds reasonable. I'd talk to the guys at Lancaster, or hit up Jim Casto.

Yeah I think I decided on the 35's.

Brad, if you want limbs to be what weight you want for a 13" riser you can order them from Sky Archery. Jim will build them spot on. I have a couple sets for my VPA.
