It smelled fishy to me yesterday when he contacted me, wanting me to text him. First thing i did was run a search on his handle. Nothing showed. Told him to give me an email. His email was fishy too. Text.com server, and not the usuals like gmail, hotmail, outlook, etc. I didnt go further with any communication after that. If it looks like a duck......

Be careful on giving out your e-mail/text address. Scammers can use it as a gateway to your financial information.
Do a search on how a scammer can use your e-mail...........scary stuff!

On the subject of scammers...I got a text yesterday about the black max limbs I have listed for sale from 517-480-3027 trying to pull a scam. Tried the whole send a carrier to pick it up BS and wanted my address. I declined. Be careful guys.

Thanks Zmonster. I had a feeling it was fishy. Wish I hadn't corresponded as much as I did as far as sending pics. But it's really hard to know who's legit til they pull their crap. Could have been an honest LWer just wanting pics. It sucks to have to keep your BS detector on all the time.

Shag you should have arranged a meeting.. At the local PD. IF it's a legitimate deal, then they will not care where you meet. The "Currier" hands you cash, you give them the limbs. No green cash = no limbs. Also take a pic of the guy, fake bills are a big no no.

That's a pretty good idea Bones! I've got a good buddy who is a cop. I could just give the address of the PD in town and see what happens. It'd be awesome if my little small town could bust some low life scammer that's apparently harassed all of us. The way the POS tried to pull it, it be mail fraud at the very least...I would think that'd be a federal charge.

I also got a PM from him asking me to text pictures. His request was too short and just plain fishy. I decided not to respond at the risk of losing a sale, but sounds like my instincts were correct.
I don't post a lot, but read nightly. When I've PM'd people about bows for sale or to ask questions, I leave my full name and email. I feel it lets people know I am legit.

I started another thread on this before a fellew leatherwaller pointed me to this one...I would like to c them get caught any ideas...Ive bought and traded a few things via the internet and never had any problems.Hope someone can get this scammer...

Well I got scammed or at least partially. Have a Super Diablo for Sale. Sent the above phone number for correspondence . Gave my name and address and received a check with the same scam listed above. Bow is for sale for 200. He wanted me to cash the check, take out the 200 and courier fee and forward the rest of the money to him. He wanted me to let him know when the check was cashed so he could send his carriers. Check sent via UPS with tracking #. When I opened the envelope I was shocked to see a check ( not money order) for 1700. Every warning light went off. The parcel came from Hampton Roads Va. but the check address was from a business in Massachusetts. I called the business and they said it was a fraudulent check. I will NOT be cashing the check. Asked for his or her name and there has been no response. Number is 517-701-9651 and he/she goes by the handle Bear Grizzly.
