Not much to tell. 70's offering with a magnesium riser and solid fiberglass limbs. It was actually an entry level/beginner bow for those getting into archery and wanting a takedown. And, at the time, metal riser takedowns made up 95% of the recurve market. If you get the slip on grip....the same grip that the more expensive mag risers had, it will be more hand-filling and maybe more comfortable. The grip will likely cost you 1/3rd of what the bow cost. If the bow came with a grip on it, you will be ahead of the grade.

Once you get it set up for yourself you're gonna like it. I have a Kwikee Quiver on mine and a stabilizer. Very steady and a good shooter. I have all three grips and prefer the #1. Her's a photo of the setups on mine and my grandsons. Lance

I've had a 50#, whatever model it was, since 1974. Mine has a tan riser with green solid fiberglass limbs. It might be a little slow but it was a great carp shooting bow.

Well done oldgoat, turkeys are not the easiest animal to penetrate with an arrow. Shows those sold limbs will do just fine.

The 76er came out in 73', in spite of the name. That gave it a three year run-up to the Bicentennial. There are two lengths- the short riser Custom and the long riser Deluxe target. Squirrelkiller is showing a Deluxe. They are 58" with the short riser and 64" with the long. Top weight was deemed "ex-heavy" 50 pounds in the Custom and 45 pounds in the Deluxe. "Heavy" weight was 45 pounds in the Custom and 40 pounds in the Deluxe. At first, they were sold without grips. Later, they added a grip. Even grips from Bear Polar compounds will fit them. I like the hard grip #2. Properly set up, they're quiet and the 45 pounder will shoot through a deer. I get slightly faster speeds with the 50 pound limbs but not much faster. Bob Savage hunts with a 76er Custom riser and his own limbs bolted to it. The 76er, I hate to say, is totally outclassed by the Custom Kodiak TD bow that I now am proud to own!

I had one years ago. Frankly I didn't care for it. It was slow and stacked. My dealer at the time referred to it as a 5 dollar bow. I can't imagine using it today

I bought one in about '78 as my first "real" bow. I still have it, but the plastic limb tips have broken, leaving pointed fiberglass ends. If anyone has any 45 or 50 lb limbs, I would sure be game. Matt

Chad I used a Thunderhorn Boa, but I had to build up the limb area a little. Trick I've done for that on a couple of bows is I took a Tentacle Wrap from Limb Saver company and cut two sections of it just big enough to wrap around the limb and then install the quiver over it. I bought the wrap off of Amazon, it's fairly inexpensive and they also work really well to wrap the grip if you don't have a grip on yours.
