I have another book to share, 'The Traditional Way' by Fred Anderson, 1997. Anderson talks about archery equipment, shooting, and hunting from a west coast perspective from the 1920s through the 1970s.

This is a give away, I'll pay the shipping. I just ask that you pass it on to another 'waller when you are finished. Please respond on this thread, I'll pick a name this weekend and announce the winner. Happy shooting.

Great giveaway. I have a copy that I reread it every few years.

Abe Penner of Caribow in Manitoba had a damaged but shootable Tucktu bow in his shop that he decided to use as a pass around demo. I wasn't in on it, but it was circulated through a bunch of guys to try out. I thought that was a nice gesture. It is remarkable that you can send a $900+/- bow to unknown archers and get it back.

I just have a book to share, but can you imagine a bow lending library? Say a $500 deposit to be a member, then you can borrow and return any bow in stock one at a time. It would take someone bigger than me to organize it.

Shotkizer/ GF, That is an interesting question, I had to think about it a little bit. If I was younger, what I would have liked most about the book would have been taking a bow wilderness camping. The settings reminded me of Will and Maurice Thompson, although the elevation was a little higher. My favorite part was chapter 19, 'Profiles'. I've read about Bear, Pope, Young, Ishi, Compton, Vail, and Hill, but Hugh Rich, the Wilhelm brothers, and Frank Eicholtz were new to me. I'd have loved to sit around a campfire with those champion shooters and have asked them where they were from, how did they get started in archery, how did they learn to shoot? They look unpretentious, no NASCAR jackets advertising laundry detergent.

I've got to find out more about Will Compton, Pope mentions him briefly also.
