I have been looking at these two bows in their 60". Erosions for quite some time. Has anyone had the chance to shoot both? How do they stack up? I really like the toelke grip but have no idea what kind of grip big Jim is putting on his. How do they compare In terms of speed fit and finish handshock and overall feel.

Never shot a Monarch, but LOVE my Chinook...one of the "never sell it come hell or high water" bows for me....light, quiet, quick, accurate as all get out.

I own a monarch. It's quite an impressive design on MANY levels. SMOOTHE fast and quiet. Only thing I wasn't happy with was the grip. But that was a personal issue. I asked for a high wrist grip and there is just a little too much swell in the palm. It's hard to describe a fell to someone. I'm sending it back to jim this week so he can grind it down a bit. I'd bet a new chinook could be gotten in 6 weeks. You'll be waiting a year at best for your monarch. That being said... Get your name on the list for a monarch. GET the chinook and in a year you'll have both and you can decide which you like better. Good luck!!

Here I am. Boy, what a question. I had a Chinook, but, like an idiot I sold it. It was Juniper and tulipwood and now I understand that a Tulipwood bow is hard to come by. THe Chinook was light in the hand, very fast, quiet and just an overall pleasure to shoot. I had the locator grip and it fit my hand perfectly. Yep, I regret selling that one. I have a Monarch and I love it- It has all the things that I could want in a bow. Smoothness, speed, quietness, accuracy And beauty. I mean, Just LOOK at the picture that Krakka posted. THat bow is beautiful. Jim has a way with different woods and pretty much everything that comes out of that shop is a showpiece. I keep my Monarch in a bowsock because I don't want to bugger it up, but I really should be tipping over critters with it. In short, they are both great bows- my opinion: SAVE UP and buy both. Go ahead and get on JIm's list, the wait will go by before you know it. When your Monarch gets to you I'm sure that you will be glad to own it.

@Matt Yacca - what kind of wood is the rise on that Monarch? The figuring on that rise is incredible!

Looks like buckeye burl.

Yep so the riser is buckeye burl and the limbs are spalted maple.

That's a really pretty combo on a great looking bow. Big Jim is a wizard with wood.
