It seems I take a long time getting on target. I get hung up just to the left of my spot and sometimes I let it fly because I get tired and maybe a little TP. Any help?

Yes, it could be target panic and it's definitely between the ears )). You will get at least a dozen fixes here so I won't add any myself. There are some folks who can help with it. Check youtube.

Adjust your feet. Draw the bow with your eyes closed. When everything is comfortable and your form is right, open your eyes. (assuming right handed) If you are aimed left, move your right foot back or move your left foot to the right. The idea is to center your "wobble zone" on the target. When this is achieved, you will be aimed at the center more than anywhere else, despite any "wobble."
Stare hard at the target and let your back tension trigger the release (rather than your brain).
Sounds like you might be over bowed too. - John

Are you guys drawing the bow and then looking for the target? I'm already lined up and staring hard at the target before I even begin to draw. The bow/arrow just finds its way between my eye and the target very naturally. It has no inclination to go anywhere else. - John

Same as Fisher Cat. I focus on what I intend to shoot, and shoot it. Just like shooting shotgun. I shoot short range with all weapons, all the time, and this method works fine for me. One thing I do not like in shooting spots regardless of weapon is sniping

You are correct--this is a form of TP.
Two exercises that I have found helpful.
1.---Draw the bow and aim at something a foot or more to the right or left of your target. Settle into your form. Now look at your target and let your bow come in to alignment with it and make your shot.
2.---Periodically during practice draw your bow, aim, and let down--especially if form and aim feel perfect. This will help your brain learn to control the shot. It will also help you learn to let down when things are not perfect.
Good luck.

Google Joel Turner shot IQ. If you are struggling simply let the shot down. Absolutely nothing good will come from continuing to shoot that arrow.

Well, before I put my two cents worth in, I'd want to know if you're swing drawing or bow hand up and then draw.

IMHO....Better shooting results from focus on target first, then bring the weapon into the sightline between you and the target whether it be recurve, compound, handgun, or rifle.

It is a form of TP. The rifleman had a good tip. Joel Turner is the go to man for TP but boy does it get involved and complicated. Good Luck. >>>----> Ken

We can't see you but it sounds like you are experiencing target panic. A type that is similar to what sight shooters get.
It sounds as if you are drawing to anchor while looking at the point of the arrow. That's wrong, and will lead to TP. You should be looing at the target, draw the bow, and let the arrow just drift in to line. Just like sight shooters. Good sight shooters look at the target and let the pin drift to the target. They don't look at the pin, and try to force the pin to the target.
