Just got on the list for a new zipper! I'm not sure if it's gonna be the sxt with longbow limbs or the nitro but excited either way! Let's see some pics of your zippers old or new style!

The wife just sewed one in my blue jeans.

I just knew someone was gonna go there. Just didnt think it would be Mr. Stout. Bahahahaha.

Actually, the last one I had...as a bow, was a Bobby Thompson model back in the late 80's. It could have been middle 80's but it was around that time. It was black Actionwood riser, black glass and maple lams. I actually bought it through Kustom King back then when Bobby was selling through them. No pictures though and his models changed dramatically after that era.

Good one George! After I wrote the post that's exactly what I thought of!Lol

GDS, drastic changes?? good or bad?? i remember the Thompson zippers too, Stacy Groscup shot one. always liked the looks of the zippers...old and new

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 14-Feb-18

Not so much good or bad but the original ones were much more deflexed off the riser than the newer, and they woods were pretty basic versus newer models. Keep in mind that mine was bought around 30 years ago. It shot great as I'm sure the newer ones do.

Just ordered one myself. SXT riser with cocobolo and macassar ebony and Z4 limbs

From: strshotx
Date: 14-Feb-18

I ordered my Zipper a few years ago,I ordered a SXT with longbow limbs.About midway through my wait he came out with the ZSR,I called right away and switched my order to a ZSR with longbow limbs.Later on I picked up a used set of Zipper EVO Accel recurve limbs. The bow is a awesome shooter with both sets of limbs, they are both carbon and foam limbs.I picked the ZSR over the SXT because I like the deflex in the riser and I feel it makes a more forgiving and accurate bow.My ZSR is kingwood and curly maple with curly maple veneers on limbs.

SXT checkered by Dave Windauer.

From: NIson
Date: 14-Feb-18

Nice pics guys. I also have a Thompson zipper that I'll never part with and actually need to have the weight reduced on to continue shooting it. Biathlonman I really like the first riser pic what were those woods? I'm sure you've shot the nitro also and wondering what like or dislike about each. I had an sxt a couple years ago and sold it but like the idea of being able to have longbow or recurve limbs for one riser. That checkering job is awesome too, hopefully Tom will get into that!

Bob Thompson is a wonderful craftsman/bowyer, but unfortunately he went back to making really nice guitars, and have heard they have a unique sound that many musicians love, not to mention his superb artistry and work. Wish he was still makin' bows, they are awesome!

From: Harl

I have 2 Nitros ! 1 is 66@29 and the other is 63@29. Both are very fast and smooth with a 750 gr arrow. Will try to get som pics up.

From: Kwikdraw

Kwikdraw's embedded Photo

Here's another, both have inlaid arrows, on limbs and risers, elk antler overlays, custom flairs, fiddleback or culy or tiger stripe maple w/ coco bolo and bubinga risers. And needless to say, they are ultra quiet, fast and very smooth. They feel 5-10lbs lighter than most recurves w/ absolutely no stack! Wyatt

Bringing this back up.

I have a Zipper on order and while waiting for mine I came across one very close to my specs at a good price from a fellow leatherwaller. So I bought it, and am very happy with it. Not sure the woods cocobolo and something else with Z-4 limbs.

I still have a deposit with Zipper so if your thinking about ordering one you can take my spot and only have about a 3 month wait (I ordered 6 months ago). Just PM me if interested.

Meanwhile here are some pics of mine.
