I will be getting some new arrows in later this week, and have been going through fletching colors in my head. I have always went with 2 white/1 pink on my compound arrows, but think i might switch it up. I was thinking maybe two yellow or flo. green and 1 barred pink. Something nice and easy to see. What do you guys use? Also, i'm not sure of all the feather shapes, so, if you post a picture, can you indicate which shape it is. Thanks

Chartreuse and pink. Sage is not those colors. Easy to find multiple misses

From: SdDiamondArcher

2 pink and 1 gray might look good too. So many options.

I used to build some awesome classic colors and splices in both wood and carbon, but anymore I am all about visibility and now mine are a fluorescent yellow dip or wrap with fluorescent yellow hens and a chartreuse cock feather and a lighted nock if hunting towards dark.

EF, I really like the classic colors as well. Dark orange, Browns, blacks, dark red, but I also really like to see my arrows and find them if I miss!

I prefer all white or all yellow parabolic profile 5" feathers right wing helical

White deer see, red and blue no good for turkey hunting (safety thing) yellow and yellow barred and suppose you could use pink, I never have. I use gray a lot, sometimes with white barred, classic in my simple mind

From: EF Hutton
Date: 30-Jan-18

I am burnt out on the flourescent pink.

I have plenty barred pink.

I am really liking the Beman ics whiteouts.

I always use 4 inch parabolic, rw

3 white barred 5” right wing.

My GT traditional 500's for my 45 lb bows have 3 shield cut rw 4" natural barred.

Looks just like Eastern wild turkey feathers.

I used 4 inch parabolic right wing feathers. They were white barred at first and I dyed them orange using Kool-Aide.

My arrows are 4 fletch with 3" bananna or shield, in whatever color im feeling @ the moment. I have about every color, its a rough choice @ times.

I find barred feathers, every florescent ones, harder to see in the grass so I stick with all three being solid colors and use florescent wraps too. I'll try posting a pic, haven't tried with this phone yet, but never had any luck on the past on this site! If the picture works, these are short high backed shield

I like any bright shield cut with bright wraps easier to find after they have avoided a target

Yellow

From: Kodiaktd

Any bright color works for me.

From: Bob Rowlands
Date: 31-Jan-18

The easiest for me to see early and late in the day, and in the dim light of dense forest, is all white. Also the easiest to find. That's fletch, nock, and cap. I don't normally shoot in the snow.

From: Bob Rowlands
Date: 31-Jan-18

Also, I use three 5.5" shield fletch. Shield is the classic tapered arrow fletch of white man.

From: Doc Pain
Date: 31-Jan-18

I use a pink crown dip and 3 pink 4” shield cut feathers. I never worry about cock feather in or out. Either way shoots the same for me.

From: Longtrad
Date: 31-Jan-18

If it ain't chartreuse, it ain't no use.

From: Gillow
Date: 02-Feb-18

I usually shoot 4 - 4" Shield cut feathers and all the same color either White, Bright Pink, or Yellow. I like that I can get 2 - 4" fletchings from one full length feather. But even shooting my 3 - 5.5 inch Shield or Banana cut feathers they are always the same color.

I sell quite a few arrows with chartreuse and blue, guys say they can really see it

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 03-Feb-18

Old school would be all natural barred. When white feathers first came out, they cost more than natural barred. Folks wanted brighter feathers back then as well. When died feathers started to happen then you saw about everything. I like feathers that are easy to see like chartreuse, or white. That said I don't pull off feathers that are in good shape so I have some that are all natural barred as well. You can always glue on a maribou feather behind the fletching to enhance visual flight.

From: LightPaw

4" shield or parabolic, white barred/ white or all yellow barred.

From: Mike E
Date: 03-Feb-18

I've got blue, grey, yellow, pink, purple, red, orange, and white, and some natural turkeys, barred and solids. All these colors you'll find in the woods. Plus I can see them better. Don't use the Florescent though. Stopped buying retail about 8 yrs ago and either trade for or wait for deals. Just picked up 100 purple barred the other day for $40. If one gets ruined for some reason I just replace it, I've got some shafts with 3 different colors on them.

I use 1 white and 2 yellow, I like white for low light situation, I see it better when knocking a arrow, I like these two colors because I think it looks nice and believe I can analyze blood better.

Here is a different version pictured along side the same 5" shields as above. These are 2" Gateway Rayzor fletch, they will drop less and carry their speed farther downrange over the same distance than the 5" shield cut due to less than half the drag from fletching. Tuning and bare shaft tune must be spot on with these and they are sensitive to an inconsistent release.

I like useing 3 the same color, white or bright yellow with white nock and flo. yellow or flo. green nock.

Last Sumer I used 3 orange feathers with flo. orange nock and I picked up some bright tangerine feathers from Lancaster that I like a lot. They show up quite well.

I don't make lookers anymore. I just make them to shoot. I definitely see white best in flight and on the ground so that's the fletch cap and nock color I use. I still lose WAY too many at that.

I use lots of Pink but yellow & white also. Some reds but this is most difficult to see. I went Gateway Patriotic for 2015 NFAA Nationals on my wood shaft. I have no preference of Shield over Parabolic either. (required for my class)

From: Bowguy Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member
Date: 07-Feb-18

Chartreuse is the easiest color for me to see. Often w a red stripe spliced into hen feather. Or Chartruese ends spliced on. Sometimes white as well used in similar fashions

It's hard to beat all white, they look like a light bulb floating through the air. This year I used some luminocks that I had got for free. LOL, I flinched off a deer on release with those dumb things. I totally forgot I had them on and saw that flash of light when I released and flinched.

As I have gotten older I favor flo orange and flo chartreuse. They show up better for me in low light conditions than other colors, including white. This is one of the 2217s I shoot from my 55 lb longbow. I fletch the 2016s I shoot from my 45 lb longbow with 1 flo chartreuse and 2 flo orange. I also use flo orange on my cedar arrows.
