I love seeing other people's bows... so I hope you can enjoy mine!

I loves short bows, and I think, I'm almost done with bows that I wanted.

Very nice.

You can't really see too many bow pictures. My shorty now is a 52" Browning Nomad Stalker. Funny how with these short bows that some consider not shootable, we can still reach out accurately to long yardage. Some cool looking bows there.

Ted, Nice looking bows. I'm fond of the little buggers too! Lance

That's quite collection. Two thumbs up. Do you have a favorite shooter among them?

From: PECO
Date: 27-Jan-18

Those are some interesting and different bows! My shortest is a Browning Nomad Stalker 52", followed by my Browning Wasp 56" I really like and shoot the wasp a lot. I've never shot anything shorter than 52" I'm going to have to try it some day.

Dao, have you ever had a Shakespeare Cascade, X-29? If not, you might want to try one, they’re a good short recurve.

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

What Mike Styles said, and also the 50" Browning Cobra is an awesome bow.

From: Tboughty

There are some interesting looking bows up there. I hate not nit pick, but what models are displayed in the pics?

From: arrowchucker
Date: 27-Jan-18

I have a 27” draw and my shortest bow is a 60” Kodiak. My favorite is a 66” Colt firearms recurve. I have a bunch of 64-68” bows. Sorry I just can’t shoot them shorties.

From: CStyles
Date: 27-Jan-18

What is the model on the far left? Looks speedy with that lower brace height. Chuck S

From: MStyles
Date: 27-Jan-18

Dao, as George recommended, the Browning Cobra I is a really nice short recurve. I like the earlier Cobra I with the half phenolic riser instead of the later ones that were two kinds of wood. The earlier 1/2 phenolic risered ones have a more balanced feel. Just my opinion. The Cobra II is 58”.nice collection btw.

I have a 52 inch Bear Black Panther, good shooting bow. Good lookin bows you have there.

You have plenty to choose from..lol

Great looking collection Dao.Shortest I've shot is a 52" kiowa bodnik and was pleasntly surprised with it.It belongs to my son so I dont get to shoot it much but I could tell it was pretty quick and not to hard to shoot.I usally shoot a 56" or 58".

hi Guys! Thanks for all the positive comments :)

was out doing errands so I just came back.

to answer some question:

1) Orion> Do you have a favorite shooter among them?

my Favorite is Left most, in both photo. Scherrinsky 48 "violator". my second favorite so far is next in line: Border Archery "Ghillie Dhu".

2) MStyles/George/sqrlgtr Cascade/Cobra/Normad/Kiowa were some of the bows I was looking at but have not had opportunity for me to shoot them yet. I am looking forward to trying them out in the future!

3) Tboughty> what models are displayed in the pics?

top photo: from left to right:

Scherrinsky 48 "Violator", Border Archery "Ghillie Dhu", Kiko Tovar 44 "Magnum", Wright "Stalker Recurve", Little Suckling "38 Special.

Bottom photo: from left to right:

Scherrinsky 48 "Violator", American Archery "X-48", Maddog "Machete", Ali-bow all fiberglass "Turkish", Herters Perfection 46 "Magnum".

4)CStyles>What is the model on the far left?

it is Scherrinsky 48 "Violator", built by Todd Scherrinsky, goes by the handle "oldbowyer" here. one of my fastest and most stable bow. (not the quietest though :).

yes I have PLENTY to choose from... which is why I think I'm going to slow down a bit. -ted

thanks again for kind comments!

I have always been intrigued by short bows but have a 29 1/2 draw length. Is there one you would recommend. Several say they will handle that draw length but I am not confident enough to buy one, without trying it. Thanks. >>>----> Ken

I have a new short bow coming, the bowyer just started the finish process so he sent me this to see how the colors were going to look. This is a 56 inch bow. Omega Native. Color is mahogany and pickled oak. I like your bow pics. Going to send you a pm about a couple of them.

Very nice. I am hooked on short recurves and short longbows. Just feel right to me. I have a Browning cobra that is a whole lot of fun to shoot. I believe it measures 46 from tip to tip strung.

Dang Ted,do you have any shorter Bows. Your up next for a Longbow :-) JF

From: Dao

>2 bears

Scherrinsky 48 is good to 31". so your 29.5 would not be an issue.

>MStyles

never shot saluki. if I have a chance, I would be happy to :)

>handle

cobra is one of the bow I was looking at. so I have to find an opportunity to try it.

>bodymanbowyer

jeff, THAT probably would be my ONLY hill style longbow! -ted

Wow those are some great bows.

Last one I have left is a Head Ski (Wing) 52-inch Red Wing Hunter. A parting gift from my ag research and extension boss at a university, it's real fun and sure shoots good.

My favorite hunting bow was my '62 K Mag. A really good looking bow, but not sure it shot any better than the RWH.

I thought about Omega Native too. but I decided to stick with recurve.... for now. -ted

Dao, shooting a Saluki is a unique experience. The arrow must be tuned to the bow. If you can try one sometime do it.

From: Bigbear

Absolutely love short bows, even with my 29" draw. I have two Pearson Ambushers (48") and a Bear Supermag (48"). Have always wanted to shoot the KT44, 38special and Wright Stalker. Should you ever want to sell these bows, please keep me in mind. Hopefully be able to afford them if and when you sell. I know those 38 specials are hard to find.

From: Oldbowyer

Thought this might be you Dao. Did not realize you had so many short bows. Nice little collection. Nice to know the Violator is still your go to bow!

From: Dao
Date: 30-Jan-18

Todd,

well, after a while, they all have tendency to multiply.. right?

The violator IS the bow that I shoot the most. and it is THE goto bow.

Just the right amount of compromises in every aspect of "the bow that I want", in one neat package. -ted

Well your going to love JF's longbow when he gets it done for you. Shot one a couple years ago a 40#er. Very sweet little bow.. Like that one fellow said next thing you will be doing is shooting cedars from a back quiver!

Cobra? Did I hear somebody mention a Cobra?

From: bluebird

Hi I just joined this group and found this thread. Some beautiful bows here. There is one in particular that I would like to respond to. It is the 38" little suckling in Dao's post. The riser for this bow was designed by my late husband and our son. It was sent to John Tluszcz of Little Suckling Recurves so that this 38 Special could be built for my husband. My husband passed away and my son contacted John so that he could buy this bow as it was the last project that he and his father worked on together. John told my son that he would hold the bow for as long as it took for him to get the money together. My son was diagnosed with cancer and was hospitalized for 6 months while fighting for his life. When he was released from the hospital he contacted Mr. Tluszcz to get the bow. Mr. Tluszcz told my son that he had sold the bow. His exact words were "I had a guy begging me for it, so I sold it." My son was crushed when John told him this. John Tluszcz is obviously not a man of his word.

Mr Dao if you were to ever decide to sell this bow, I would appreciate it if you would give me the first chance at buying it. I would love to put this bow in the hands of my son. He and his father worked very hard designing this riser. If you doubt what I am saying, you can contact Mr Tluszcz. If he is man enough to be honest with you, he will tell you that everything I have written is the truth.

I have a 51 pound 50" Browning Cobra. It is too short for my draw length. Someday I hope to try a Scherrinsky,Schrew,or Little Suckling. >>>>----> Ken

I can't believe I missed this thread last winter--and thank heavens I did! So many short bows, all packed into one thread...it's as though a tornado has just lifted me off my bike, and dumped me in some Munchkin-Archery Land.

I'm going to click my heels three times, and escape back to my castle full of bows that are the proper size. Perhaps with the help of a couple of PBR's, I can forget the horrifying images I've just seen.
