I live in Virginia When I was young in mid Sept it started cooling off. Frost was normal in Oct & a slight warm-up was called Indian summer. By mid Nov daytime temps below freezing were normal. I remember the opening day of gun season one year beying 5 degrees. That's the 3rd sat in Nov. Dec & jan was cold & By mid Feb it slowly started warming up ..... Now Oct 80 even 90 nov this year I think we had 2 frost's dec 60 to 70 shorts & t-shirts not un common at Christmas Jan it finally starts getting cold. It just seams to me that the seasons have gotten out of sync with the calinder. Hunting sucks in hot weather. I still do it. I treet deer like fish gut um stuff um with ice & put um in big coolers. But I still miss the old days

It's cyclical, but it's also a result of climate change. The last three years, the temps worldwide have been the warmest on record. Sure there is severe weather in many different locales, but the overall trend is warming (and more wind).

Of course, another symptom of climate change is weather that's out of whack -- cold when it should be warm, warm when it should be cold, wet when it should be dry, dry when it should be wet, etc.

Yup. The climate's changing.....just like it's been doing for the past 4,500,000,000 years. Good thing too, otherwise we'd all be dead.

For sure WW, but not at the pace of the last few decades.

We don't really know that. The real records we have only go back about 100 years. That's like a grain of sand in the Sahara.

Besides, it's the sun that dictates what the climate will be on a global scale.

we you could use some climate change,,,, been dam cold,,, ha ha

I always get a kick about the climate change issue,,,, Orion you are absolutely right, the climate has been changing, and its been doing so since day one of the earth,,,,,,

It is a cycle, just wish it would come to the UP

all this global warming change has been freezing our butts off here in NC.....weather comes in cycles, some in years, some in decades , some in centuries........ain"t too bad worried about it.....

Weird weather? Thats nothing, last I heard, the Earth is square and you could fall off and get your head stuck in a Black Hole.

Keep in mind that records are just in the time we've been keeping them. The climate has been changing ever since the world (Earth) was a planet. Your memories are subject to a lot of missed recalls. We are more northerly than Virginia and -5 is as rare as an honest politician. Only a few times in my life have I ever seen below zero except in wind chills. You may want to visit the temp averages over the past fifty years. Here in Novemember the leaves don't drop until near mid month.

It's 'common' to have temps in the 70's in October and 50's in November. Averages in November will be closer to 40. As for warming up in February, well more so in Virginia than here, but the days are getting longer and the country is heading toward spring.

I have remembrances back to the early 50's and the biggest difference I see is it always seems we have less snow nowadays. That too can be checked with a google search though.

Orion, you raise a very good point, agreed upon by about 99% of the Climatologists. The problem is that many people have difficulty making the distinction between weather and climate. Joel

Orion, I live in the desert. If it gets any warmer I will be toast.

But you do make a good point.

Irregardless of the cause, the western US has been in an intensified Wildfire cycle for the last 20yrs. Hope the "weather" changes back, or we are going to run out of trees to burn.

The problem is that climate science has become political science and "scientists" can get away with claiming a fraction of a degree increase over thousands of years using tree rings to measure.

It would be funny if they weren't trying to tax me more over it.
