Hey guys, any traditional bow hunters here in Oklahoma? Specifically North East Oklahoma. I am new to the area hoping to meet some fellow hunters and learn the lay of the land. -Buckwheat

Buckwheat,I live in Bartlesville along with a group of other trad guys. Through the spring and summer we get together on monday evenings to shoot at the local range, Bartlesville archery club. Another of the archers is on here and other forums as SHOOTALOT.

E.Will

I am a little ways away from Bartlesville - I am in Wyandotte I think about 1.5 hours. That being said, I think that it would be fun to make it over there some of the time to shoot. Where is the range located?

Ryan, I live in Tuttle, located in SW OKC. I met some guys here in Weatherford. It's an hour drive for me to shoot the 3D at the end of the month. Good times and good people.

Have you checked out the following, Archery Traditions of Oklahoma, Oklahoma Selfbow Society, Oklahoma Traditional Bowhunters and The Oklahoma Longbowmen.

I want to get up to the NE corner of the state, there is a good source for knappable rock.

Anyway welcome, John

Buckwheat I shoot traditional (Bear Recurves) and live in Broken Arrow. Killed my first deer Oct 2,1955. Getting ready to go to the Mexico Border for our annual week long Javelina hunt.

Would love to talk bowhunting if your ever down this way.

Buckwheat, I'm in SE Oklahoma. Kiamichi mountains. No shoots close but a lot of public hunting land.

Bowhunter, Texas shoot out?

Thanks for all of the great information so far. I am relatively new to the Traditional world. Traded my Mathews in about 3 years ago and haven't looked back. I am currently shooting a Vison by Martin longbow.

Stoner: I haven't checked out those resources yet but certainly will. If you do ever make it up to the NE corner of the state, let me know maybe we can do some shooting.

Bowhunter: I would love to hunt for Javelina. I helped my brother-in-law move to southern Arizona (by Yuma) over the summer. I don't know if there are any in the area but I have a place to stay there now so plan on checking that out.

Gizz: I have seen that there is a lot of public land in that part of the state. I think I may try and plan a trip that way this season. Do you know if they offer places to camp?

I am hoping to find a place to hunt close to me for this year as well for those times when I have a short amount of time in the woods.

National Forest you can pretty much camp anywhere, WMAs in the area have designated camp areas. If you want all the hook ups , there's an rv park in Big Cedar. Depends on what kind of camping you want. If you come down this way pm me and I'll show you what I can.

Most likely I would be doing tent camping. Maybe later in the season, if it is pretty cold may switch to a camper. I think that I will check out the National forest. I well certainly PM you Grizz, if/when I head that way.

Grizz, Not Texas Shoot Out. Blessed to have a friend with 6,300 acres between Marathon and Sanderson. This will be the 27th year in a roll we have made this hunt. Like I said, really blessed to have it. We are the only bowhunters allowed.
