Crawling out of my cave....I realize I'm behind in the times, so I'm humbling myself before yaw and ask a question that will make me feel dumber than I look. Static spine vs Dynamic spine in reference to "carbon" arrow calculations. In my mind I think I know what it is but I can feel I'm surrounded by a bunch of highly intelligent bowmen who won't mind bringing me into the 21st century. Mr. Rick Barbee! are you out there?

Static spine is the measurement of the stiffness of a shaft. Measured on a spine measuring device.

Dynamic spine is how the shaft acts when shot and depends on length of the shaft, point weight, draw length, etc.

You start with static spine then work from there.

No more complicated than that.

Dynamic spine is what really matters!

SB, No, dynamic spine matters to the individual. Static spine of that same arrow matters to everyone else. LOL.

Static spine is still / laying on the bench Dynamatic spine is moving. What happens when it is kicked by the force of the bow string. >>>----> Ken

This topic needs to be closed because I am feeling stupid for asking the question. Lets act like we never had this conversation. Scratch it from the record:)

Trust me that is not a dumb question!

I think this is a good question if more guys would ask questions then they would learn more .

Asking serious questions is the smart thing in my opinion .

Would I be way off by saying advertized spines both static and dynamic in general are a beginning references at best. To be sure an arrows with it's components is properly matched to a bow and archer, it needs to be shot out of that bow by that archer.

Not only that hvac tech, but guys like me who don't even know enough about this stuff to ask that question, learn something valuable.

chad... its the truly smart ones among us that ask the so called 'dumb' questions.
