Today will be the vertical obstruction turkey shot at 14 yards. Shoot at your target between 2 narrowly placed vertical objects... they can be close to the target, or closer to you.. your choice. Simulating shooting by some trees when part of your target is blocked.

God Bless,

CD

Couldn't take the pressure. I didn't want to hit the freeze dried head. Lol have a great weekend everyone. Jim

After all this time I finally got one, shot as called, foam obstructions about four inches maybe closer.

I need to get off my duff and make some arrows for this bow, shooting these heavy spined arrows just don't help much in the accuracy department...Ha!Ha! At least my altitude was right on, I was sure I was going to bust that disc......Oh Well!

Good shot Frank

Thanks for the call CD

Bow Yew longbow 45lbs.

Arrow Howard Hill......I thought these arrows were cedar, I broke the tip off one yesterday and remachined it for another tip and the wood curled up just like Douglas Fir, I tried my sharpner on a cedar and it cut smooth.

Thanks Ron. I shot in the basement today, been raining all morning.

From: RonG
Date: 12-Jan-18

Frank, We are due for more rain and cold coming today,

I'm glad I used foam today, I have used steel conduit, what was I thinking, my shooting has been going downhill a little lately. I'm glad to see you still shooting accurately and consistent.

I can just barely get 14 yards in the basement. Just glued up a sika bow, so I took the shot with my new sika of my own. 61# 58" obstructions will be in next photo

From: Jim Keller
Date: 12-Jan-18

Brian, I'd never risk it with one of Calley's heads. That was a reject from another freeze drier. To be used for a decoy for a buddy. Jim

Shot as called. Sorry can't see POI in this pic, but it hit about 5" high and an inch west of the white mark. Arner bow and Wapiti cedar.

From: 1/2miledrag

TK- Trapper has you pegged, haha!

Maybe you are dead nuts on but your arrows are too stiff 8^)

Here’s the set-up - Failing light and a couple extra obstructions near, and I put the cardboard tubes pretty close together at the far end, since this rain robbed me of any snow to stick them into....

From: GF
Date: 12-Jan-18

GF's embedded Photo

That’s what you get when you get cocky, I guess! Only out by an inch or so...

From: GF
Date: 12-Jan-18

GF's embedded Photo

Next 2 from 18 or so: the 1816 seems to have found the same hole again; 1916 on the left is an inch shorter and had an extra 20 grains up front, but maybe still kinda stiff...

Won’t win any belt buckles, but I’d expect good enough (and short enough) blood trails from either hit to recover a deer even in these conditions...

I hope!

Nice shootin' folks!

Cal, Trapper shouldn't be so hard on you, we all have days like that.

Thanks again, Chad.

Thanks for the call, Chad! Some of us are deadly today, some of us are daffy.I joined the latter camp. It was like a spring turkey hunting day this morning, 56 and a light rain. I felt like grabbing a bow I rarely shoot, 1962 Browning Apollo, and gave myself a bit more challenge than usual, putting one branch about 1 foot in front of the ball and the other 2 feet in front. I managed to split the offset uprights but missed over the back of my funky foam turkey.

Thanks for the call CD. Ron, you hit the left side and I took out the right. Foam soup tonight! HA! Shooting my new to me 1975 "A" Mag and a POC arrow. So this is truly my first shot with this bow. Looks like we had a variety of the good the bad and the ugly today. Have a good one! Lance

2nd, 3rd and 4th shots were in the money, but since this is FS this is what ya get. I came in and glued some thin leather over the plastic and will try that tomorrow. As James Caan muttered in "El Dorado", "I have a host of friends" Thanks guys. Lance.

Roger, lol! I got some orange balls with yarn taped to them to take on the course tomorrow. Never too early. It is light at 0700 hrs...lots of time to practice. Oh, and the plow just went by. No problem getting there.

From: tundrajumper
Date: 13-Jan-18

Cal, do you make your arrows? what are they<

From: TrapperKayak
Date: 13-Jan-18

Rog, The one in the pic is one I got from BOXCALL, and since its too stiff I think thats why it shot to the left. Others I have are cedar and fir I got from Ted Frye at Raptor Archery. I also have some alums. that need refletching. Lots to 'make', very few right now to shoot. I just need to fletch a bunch, I dont realy make them.
