If you would keep my Wife in your prayers today & tomorrow. She started to have pain by her left shoulder blade that turned out to be a grapefruit sized mass pressing against the nerves on her upper spine. It’s called Chondrosarcoma or cancer of the cartilage. It’s rare, and slow growing. If not removed now, it will eventually press against her throat and heart, and it’s already pressing against her lung. They’re operating on her right now, from the back, and then tomorrow going into her upper chest to remove the mass in one piece, hopefully. Thank You.

Thanks for all the prayers and concern. The first procedure through her back, actually the back of her neck, went without a hitch and the upper spine surgeon was happy with the outcome. Tomorrow the Thoracic surgeon is going to basically go through the chest like open heart surgery, split the sternum, and hopefully take it out in one piece. I believe in the power of prayer and all of yours are greatly appreciated. Those surgeon’s hands were guided today, I believe that.

My Wife’s surgery today was successful. The Surgeon was able to get the tumor out without damaging the surrounding nerves, arteries, etc. They had to take the 2nd rib out with the tumor, but we knew up front that might happen. There may be some loss of function to her left hand, but we won’t know until she comes out of the anesthesia completely. Once again, thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, I believe it made the difference! God Bless you all.

My Wife is finally out of the post anesthesia care unit and in kind of a half way floor between ICU and a regular room. The main thing is to keep the pain managed, and at the same time get her up and walking, but she can only go a few steps. That and trying to improve her breathing. Sort of a double-edged sword. Takes the meds for pain, too doped to walk much. I know it’ll get better, she’s Boston Irish. Thanks to all who prayed for her, it made the difference, and I believe that.

I almost can’t believe it, but they’re saying my Wife can go home soon, by Friday at the latest. She’s still in the ICU or CCU floor, but she’s doing so well, so OK. Before the operations, they said 7-10 days, now less than 7.

Chondrosarcoma doesn’t respond very well to radiation or chemo because it grows so slowly. It took two surgeons, two days and 13 hours, but they got the small grapefruit-sized tumor out, but took the second rib with it. My wife is home now and the recuperation from this will take a couple of months. We’re grateful for everyone’s thoughts and prayers.
