AZ is now a draw of Javelinas in most areas. We used to go every year for New Years hunts when it was over the counter. I looked into it too late for this year.

Would be helpful if an Arizonan would help us here. Thanks for any help in sorting out the draw/overcounter issues

I went to the bowman McLean ranch in San Antonio last year. We all had a great time. I didn't kill a javi but I saw plenty.

Still some otc javie tags in Arizona. Just have to do your leg work and glass work to get on them. It's not that tough of a hunt, just gotta get out there and find em...

$260 to hunt an over-sized rodent you can't even eat?! Guess I don't want to shoot one that bad.

Here is a picture of my son 3 years ago at age 15 W/ his Don Doan Grizzly Replica 56" 42# @ 28 (sweet shooting bow) and a West Texas Javelina taken on our Ranch. He practiced Day and some Nights for 4 months W/ me before harvesting his first animal. We were hunting Mule Deer and these animals are so thick more like pest.Taken w/ a Muzzy Phantom 125 grain 4 blade.Thanks...

Smoke em whole for about eight hours. Pull the meat, add BBQ sauce, good eating. Yes they stink but you don't cook and eat the smell.

I think they are pretty tasty, but the boys in TN will eat about anything

It use to be OTC archery only a 1-1/2 years ago when I lived there. And It did not count against your firearm tag. I hunted the base of the Superstition Mtns. John

I used to hunt AZ and you have a really good chance after the draw of leftover tags for javelina. I hunted the base of the Superstitions all the way out to Saguaro lake area, Verde river, lots of javelina. I was always able to get leftover tags for archery there.
