The Penetration thread got me thinking about this old expression regarding arrow flight, and it always made me pause....kinda like "sweat like a pig" does. They don't!

Watched the dart world championship the other day. They could hit the trip 20's almost every time.

I understand the best dart throwers are gappers, that's why I'm no good at darts.

I've always liked arrows that fly like a telephone pole and hit like a freight train.

Looks like he just needs to raise his nocking point a bit.

Darts don't fly too great. That's why when my arrows are flying great I say they are " flying like lasers"! Nothing is, theoretically, straighter than a beam of unrefracted light.

I've wondered if throwing darts improves eye-hand coordination skills that might transfer to bow shooting.

Might be worth trying suring these long, cold winter nights.

I usually get a chuckle when I see someone say their arrows "fly like darts". The darts I am used to seeing fly are rather slow with quite an arc to them...O wait, maybe that's what they mean about their arrow flight. LOL

I wonder if dart throwers say they've got them flying like arrows?

Lots of sayings out there that are not true to their words but they get the point across. I am trying to speak better English myself. We tend to fall into bad habits early and they just become accepted in our life. Say what you MEAN. Mean what you say.

Concerning arrows that are, IMHO, overly heavy for the draw weight of the bow (16 gpp +) and touted to fly "like darts"...my standard reply is "Yes, lawn darts!"
