OregonTK, well she was hiking a segment. We used to live just down the road from where the PCT crossed north of Carson. She used to hike that area when I was at work in Portland. She went back to WA with her cousin last year and went back up the switchbacks there, got that picture. I took this pic a couple years ago. I used to drive this every day. And work at Bonneville dam sometimes (in the distance). I found a beautiful fresh set of 6x7 elk sheds laying one on top of the other down at the bottom of this flat I the bottom of the pic.. below Vista Point, and the 5x5 set from the same elk from a previous year.

Last one of Mt. Hood. this is a vast and untouched wilderness for the most part. Many miles of timber to get 'lost' in. It has a primordial beauty that I just have to get back to every so often. And maybe one day live there again.

And then there's this, just outside of Aspen, probably one of the most visited and photographed mountains anywhere. In fact its so crowded that you have to take a shuttle bus up to it to keep the number of cars down. A huge disappointment to see throngs of tourists there. It was beautiful but polluted with humans. Maroon Bells.

I suppose if you go far enough you lose the multitudes and encounter the hearty, kind of like the Hoh Rainforest trail (after the first mile or two, there are only true adventurists). But we didn't have time here to go deep into the trail since the 'friends' we had with us always dragged their a$$e$ and we waited around for then for over an hour in the bus line, and then it turns out they never even waited for us, departed on the previous bus... That was a bad 'friend' trip. No longer travel with them... :/ At least the scenery was good.

OregonTK, this is a pirated photo I got online, but it is of Panther Creek Falls, about 6 miles up the road from where I lived next to the Gifford Pinchot on the 65 FS road. It is a remarkable falls, mostly a spring that gushes right out of the side of the mountain right here. The right part is the waterfall from the Panther Creek that comes down from Indian Heaven way above. I used to drive by this place often. Its right off the road, but I didn't stop there too often. Its too beautiful of a photo to keep to myself. Credit goes not to me however.

TrapperKayak .... I've seen the elk down along I-84 a couple times. A friend and I backpacked around Mt Hood on the Timberline a few years ago...40 miles in 3 days. I live just east of Sandy on the way up Mt Hood. Most of the Columbia Gorge is still closed after the fire last September, I think they just opened up Multnomah Falls.

Only at different times of the day. Ron, those Oregon pics are publishable. The bird pics are Nat Geo quality...Hope you can do that... Awesome! (That squirrel is a girl... :) Nice blacktail buck, plentycoupe. Everyone, keep the thread going... This is a humpy in Monterey Bay last year. Not good quality pic, but it was a fun excursion. It takes a big arrow to get one of these.

A waterfall known as Mossy Grotto on Ruckel Creek in the Columbia Gorge, Oregon. No official trail to get into this magical place. The boulders on the left are as big as a house. The light of day rarely penetrates the canyon.

Monday's sunrise at a viewpoint overlooking the Sandy River and Mt Hood. The clouds dissipated before daylight, but the fog and sunrise combined for a nice composition. I live about 10-12 minutes from this viewpoint.

This pic is worthy of sharing. I want to credit Tundrajumper for its existence...without him, no pic, or no dinner last night. This is some of the halibut Rog and Laurie sent me, just out of the goodness of their hearts. Thank you guys! It turns out perfect every time.
