I'm starting to feel the urge to start working on some bows and risers that I've glued up before my knee operation. I still can't take the hours on the concrete floor of my shop, but at least the desire is slowly returning. Maybe after the New Year begins, so will I. Richard

That's a lovely line up. Hope you feel better soon.
I have a couple preshaped risers on hand and am constantly fearful of having them fall and get wrecked. :)

I used to work on concrete, 8hrs at a time. Brutal, until I discovered Sorbothane insoles. They used to claim sorbothane was the closest polymer in durometer to human skin. Excellent shock absorber, it's like memory foam for your feet. Might be worth a try while your knee heals.

Richard - Beautiful 1960 Kodiak Deluxe risers. But I must say, there is no comparison with my ebony and bacote that you built for me. Anyone that gets any of these will have a bow to be proud of. Hope you get to feeling better shortly. Danny

Those are some beautiful risers. What kind of vow is the second from the left? I love the black and white ebony and the short riser profile. I would love some information on it.

I second high quality insoles and shoes with soles that will help eliminate shock. Some podiatrists specialize in insoles that professional athletes use to reduce stress on feet, ankles and knees.Thier are excellant over the counter choices however. The rubber mat does sound appropriate as well.
Somebody will be happy with those risers when thier completed into bows.Mine looks and shoots beautifully.I feel fortunate to have it!
All the best with your recovery!

To me, ILF means "I like to fish."All the risers are copies of the 1960 Bear Kodiak Deluxe recurve. The longer risers will make 60" bows, the middle length, 54" bows, and the shortest ones are for 48" kids bows. Several of the risers do not yet have the thin strips of riser trim yet. From left......1 & 2 are Black and white Ebony. I received the lams for these last Christmas from Big Jim. 3 & 4 are Zebrawood with Bubinga and Purpleheart grips. 5 is curly Maple and Bubinga. 6, 7, 8, and 9 are all Rosewood with Ebony or Zebrawood grips. 10 is splated Maple and Bubinga. 11 is an experiment.....nothing but Bamboo in the riser and Bamboo in the limbs, and 12 will be a 48" kids bow with Myrtle and Padauk in the riser with Myrtle veneers. All will have Bamboo lam limb cores. When my wife gets off the computer, I'll post a picture of the bows I already have glued up. Thanks to all of you for the tips on coping with the hard concrete floor. It's just that the new knee is still cranky and complains a lot, but it'll come around in a few weeks. I walked about 2-1/2 miles with my Golden Retriever Jake today. No cane, just me, and I'm icing the knee as I write this. PT at 7:00 am tomorrow! Richard

Anyhow, excellent craftsmanship.
