Anyone know who may have crafted this recurve bow? There are no markings on it, but it looks and shoots a lot like an older 1-piece Black Widow MA or Habu recurve bow. When I measure it with a cloth tape measure, it measures 61". The draw weight feels like it's in the high 50's. The bow is not fast-flight compatible, yet still shoots a 28", 2018 arrow with a 125gr. point very fast. I'm not sure what woods are in the riser, but the bow limb faces and backs are black glass. Just curious if anyone knows who the bowyer may have been.

It's either a Black Widow or one that somebody copied at home from a Black Widow.

If there are no markings on it virtually impossible to know. Call the guys in Missouri and send them a picture. They MIGHT be able to help.

I don’t believe it’s a widow the lines are too crude for them. I think it’s a homemade copy.

I'm not a Widow guy, but that looks like a Widow to me.

Actually the lines are NOT as crude as a widow!

Some years back, when I used to do bow repairs, a guy sent me a black widow like that with a delaminated limb and had me replace the limbs on the riser. I made a form, took the old limbs off, made some lams, and glued up some new limbs on it. The customer, who had me do it, wasn't happy with it, because I couldn't replicate the original markings, and the draw weight came out heavier than it originally was.

That might be the bow.

Thank you for all of your responses. I still hoping someone definitely recognizes this bow and can tell me more about it. Like I stated in my original post, I am very pleased with how quickly I felt comfortable shooting this bow. Positive grip, smooth draw, great energy transfer and no hand shock. Over the years I have owned two 1-piece Black Widow recurves; the GB and the AO models, and this bow shoots a lot like they did. Really glad I took a chance on this bow off the auction site.

The woods too purty for a Widow!! :)

Looks like a Browning Explorer to me.

Not a Browning Explorer Jim, I've owned a lot of them and limb angle is different overall. It is reminiscent of the Brownings. You guys could go back and read Mike Mecredy's post.

Small throat on that bow, looks like I'd get along with that grip very nicely.

Nice bow, what ever it is. I still say Widow.

Not a Bingham, they didn't offer anything this nice. The wood looks like rosewood from the 60's. I have a widow very similar to it.

I had a 66" Widow that was very similar to that one. The one that I actually killed stuff with, I never put sights on it.

Isn't there a guy, in I want to say Wisconsin that makes widow look alike bows?

From: Joey Ward

Old Habu, maybe?

Chris Cox, the bowyer.

Think he only makes 3 piece bows now.

For some reason, I think I remember he squared off the tips like that.

From: Eric Krewson

There were some guys in town that started making their own bows, every one of them made a Widow clone. Their bows didn't have the level of craftsmanship of the bow in question but the fact that they made them suggests that a Widow is a popular bow to copy.

Now that I see those tips, it ain't my work, I've never made tips like that.
