What is "stabilcore"? Is it a name for fiberglass lams, or is it used for lateral limb stability? Is it similat to WEFT or E- BIAS ? Ray

It is similar to WEFT But is thinner. I believe it was orginaly used for skateboards

I think the application for bows is similar to E-BIAS. I think it was the "MYSTERY CORE" in the Shrew bows.

I am not a fan of anything bear paw. But I think this stuff may be good as Jack Kemp uses it.

"Stabil-Kore is a light weight core material which gives bow limbs lateral and torsion rigidity. Stabil-Kore is a proprietary composite that can be used as an alternative to carbon to increase efficiency and add multi-directional attributes, reinforce limbs, increasing cast, and eliminating nearly all lateral twisting for better in-line recovery and more energy down range. Stabil-Kore is sanded on both sides and is used as a core material and can be used with carbon laminations. Each strip measures 72" x 1.96” x .015."

Thanx to all for the replies, I think I'll try a strip in my, soon to be built, 50s style recurve. Ray

I've been using it in my RD design and find that it improves stability. It's easy to work with too. You can cut it with scissors. Not sure I see it having epoxy in it but something is holding those fibers together.

As Rooty mentioned Jack Kempf is a big fan of the material, including it these days in just about all of his limbs. Jack is a bowyer who has always put a lot of thought and testing into his craft and he has been building bows since 1960 (and yes that means he is 86 years old).

An 86 year old bowyer using leading edge technology in his builds! I'd love to spend a day with him in the shop.

If Jack is using it, there is a REALLY good reason. He doesn't do anything in a bow design "just 'cause".
