Since I started traditional archery Ive shot longbows However I like the looks of the PSR as it has more of a longbow handle. However Im not sure I want to shell out 1200 bucks. Anyone make a more affordable recurve thats similar?

Big JIm makes a sweet fifty's style recurve. it's called the Mountain Monarch. Not sure where the pricing starts, but I Bet it's less than 1200.

Like the looks of Big Jim's but I have to many bows now. I have 2 Great Northern Super Ghost and they are good shooting quiet bows.

Bodnik Slick Stick recurve $377.95, KustomKing. It ain't a PSR but it has a 50's style riser and they shoot very well.

I think you are going to find their are many 50s style recurves that will compete with the PSR that will not cost you as much.Typically the risers and grips are gonna be somewhat similar in the low to medium low configuration and smallish in circumference.Without much mass weight. Most have locator grips.
The widow limb design is the widow limb design and others will differ. Its a proven limb. The widow is very well built. Its a tough bow..I had a 60 incher and I liked it a lot.I did swap the string out for a custom string to improve it.
I have found a few others that I personally like as much and a few I like more.I personally love the Fox breed 2 piece 62 incher.Thats just me though.Your mileage may vary.
IMO you cant go wrong with the PSR.But you may find that you may like another 50s style more.Maybe not.You would have to try a few to know.

I had Bob Sarrels build me one of his Lynx recurves. It's a PSR style and a great bow for the money. I think I paid around $750.

If you want a PSR, get a PSR. They come up often in the classifieds at Black Widow. Just gotta be ready because they go quick. I'm still looking for a #60+ PSR takedown. Missed one a few months ago...

Lots of good old used bows that will serve well too. Don't know the spending habits of some folks, but $1200.00 is a lot of money to me. You can buy a used 50's bow for less than $250.00 and have plenty left over for another one or two. Used PSR's can be had for about half price of new. May want to look around at what things are selling for right now.

X3 Kota Killup, but they aren't $525 any more despite what the website says! Just bought one, super-quiet and easy to tune, I really like it.

longbows and selfbows are my go to bows... but a Great Northern Ghost fits in perfectly. It's like having a short longbow with curved limbs. :)
