I’m looking at some new carbons for a new to me bow, can anyone help out with a selection?

I’m looking for 31” arrow from a 50# bow with hopefully some 200gr heads (that’s what I have)... I’d like my final weight about 500gr

Thanks guys

Really need a little more information to be able to make an intelligent recommendation. Type of bow, your draw length. Is your bow 50#@28 or your draw length. How deep is the side plate cut, what type of string, low stretch or dacron?

I have a feeling your arrow will be over 500gr with that head. But yes, we need more info from you as Orion stated.

Before you start, get some lottery tickets. For you to come out at 31 inches, 200 grains and 500 grain arrow, chance are as good as winning the lottery.

I'm not a genius, but I can guess that you have a 30 inch draw? THat would make the requirement of a 31 inch arrow and would also give you about a 55 pound bow. Here's the big unknown mentioned - how far is it cut to center.

So making all these guesses...naw... I can't do it. You don't even say if it's a longbow or a recurve. Fast flight string's not even a given.

Sorry for the confusion

At my draw length I’ll be pulling almost 50#. I thought I had said predator bow, but missed it, so yes it is a recurve with FF string..

I started messing around with 3 rivers spine calculator, does it seem to work pretty well for those who have used it?

I think I’ll be buying new heads lol

Almost there, but what's your draw length? It makes a difference as to whether it's 26,28, 30 inches, etc.

I’m drawing 29”

Drawing 29' and FF string with the Predator cut past center by 1/8" you'll need 400 spine minimum a tunable arrow. You may have to drop your point weight a bit. Maybe to 145gr.

I entered your ballpark data into the 3Rivers calc.

Using Beeman ICS Bowhunters in 340 at 31" and 3-5" fletching I got this. You'd be just over 500gr and a little heavier but quite tunable with that arrow.

Depends who you talk to... there are those who believe the carbon-spine numbers out of the calculator and those who don't...

I'm shooting 31" 500s (Bowhunter ICS) out of about the same spec bow with 125s up front and they fly great with big helicals on the back, but I haven't had the heart to strip off any fletchings and bare-shaft them.

I would go with 4 of the 500s and a point-weight test kit with 4 points at each weight; fletch 2, shoot 2 bare, and experiment 'til you get them to group.

I tend to agree with Bud. .400s should work, even with the heavy point weight you want, but it will be more than 500 grains.

I shoot .400 Easton Axis out of my 50#@28 (my draw length) Bear TDs (cut to center not past center) with 300 grains up front. Arrows weigh closer to 600 grains.

Pyrannah, I shoot a longbow 50 at 29, average speed. I shoot .620's and .390's with varying point weight to 360 grains, to meet my hunting needs. I'm a tuning nut and have to jump through a lot of hoops to make both setups work.

I'd advise .500's, but a lot depends on your form.

If you have trouble making that work PM me.
